🏷 1. Product Card Badge
Product Card Badge

Products with variants display a hidden matrix icon in the top-left corner that appears with a smooth zoom animation when hovering the product card. Click it to open the matrix popup directly, without adding the product to the cart first.

✅ Invisible by Default

Icon is hidden until you hover the product card. Appears with a smooth zoom-in animation.

Click the badge to open the matrix without adding a product to the cart first.

The variant matrix popup can be opened from:

Click the icon badge on variant product cards.

Click the grid icon next to the product name in the cart.

📊 Grid Layout

First attribute = columns, remaining = rows. Auto-sized to content.

Use +/- buttons or type directly in the input field. Click Add to Cart to add all quantities at once. The popup adapts its width to the number of variants.

📦 3. Real-Time Stock
Real-Time Stock

Click the Stock button in the header to fetch live inventory data:

Stock Features:
  1. Per-cell stock badges - Green for available, red for zero stock
  2. Sub-header row - Column stock totals shown below the attribute headers
  3. Dedicated Stock column - Row stock totals in a separate column after the quantity Total
  4. Grand stock total - Overall stock total in the footer
  5. Real-time - Every click fetches fresh data from the backend (no caching)
  6. Location name - Shows the POS stock location in an info bar
🛒 4. Order Lines & Summary
Order Lines

When variant products are in the cart:

  1. Grid icon on each variant order line — click to open matrix in edit mode
  2. Variant summary bar — appears above the order list when a variant line is selected
  3. Shows: Template name, total quantity (units), total amount, and tax
  4. Summary aggregates all lines of the same product template
  5. Smart sorting — lines auto-sorted by product template and variant name after matrix actions
⌨ 5. Keyboard & Interaction
Tab Navigation

Press Tab to move to the next cell, Shift+Tab to go back. Cycles through all cells.

ESC Protection

The Escape key does not close the modal, preventing accidental data loss.

Draggable Modal

Click and drag the header to reposition the popup on screen. Grab cursor indicates draggable area.

Auto-Select on Focus

When Tab navigates to a cell, the value is auto-selected for quick overwrite.

⚙ Installation
Steps:
  1. Copy the qt_pos_product_matrix folder into your Odoo custom addons directory
  2. Restart the Odoo server
  3. Go to Apps, remove the "Apps" filter, and search for "POS Product Variant Matrix"
  4. Click Install
  5. Ensure Variants are enabled: Settings → Sales → Product Variants
  6. Open the Point of Sale and navigate to products with variants
💡 Requirements: Point of Sale and Inventory (stock) modules must be installed. No additional Python packages needed.
⚠ Note: Products must have 2 or more variants for the matrix features to appear. Single-variant products behave normally.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions

The matrix icon only appears on products with 2 or more variants that are available in POS. Ensure your product has configured attributes and variants, and that multiple variants are marked as "Available in POS".

No. This module uses OWL template extensions and PosStore patching. It does not override any native Odoo methods. Standard POS functionality remains unchanged.

Stock is fetched via RPC call to the backend each time you click the Stock button. Data is never cached — you always see the current stock levels from the POS stock location configured in your session.

Yes! Click and drag the purple header bar to reposition the popup anywhere on screen. The cursor changes to a grab icon to indicate the draggable area.

Yes. The first attribute is used for columns and remaining attributes create compound rows. For example, with Color, Size, and Material — Color becomes columns, and rows show "S / Cotton", "S / Polyester", "M / Cotton", etc.
