Rooteam Stock Container
Plan, fill, and track shipping containers end-to-end in Odoo Inventory. Define reusable container types with weight and volume capacity, group stock pickings into containers through a guided wizard, schedule purchase order receipts by vendor-ready date, and assign incoming purchase order lines to existing or brand-new containers from one screen. Container Types & Capacity Tracking
Create reusable container types under Inventory → Configuration → Batch Types, each with its own weight and volume capacity. Assign a container type to any stock picking batch and the system instantly shows live progress bars for used weight % and used volume %, alongside total cartons and ETA / ETD dates. Your warehouse team knows at a glance how full each container is, prevents over-loading, and keeps shipping documentation accurate.
Container Batch Wizard
From any stock picking, click "Add to Batch" (or "Switch Batch") and the Container Batch Wizard opens with live capacity feedback. Pick an existing draft or in-progress container, add or remove pickings, and watch the weight % and volume % progress bars update in real time. The wizard validates that pickings share the same operation type, lets you set ETA / ETD on the batch, and confirms the assignment in one click.
Purchase Order Manual Receipt with Container
On a confirmed purchase order, the new "Add to container" button opens a dedicated wizard with two modes: "Select Existing Container" to drop lines onto a container you already created, or "Create New Container" to spin up a fresh batch named on the fly. Set the container type, ETA / ETD, and Expected Arrival date, review capacity progress bars as lines are added, and confirm — the corresponding receipt picking is generated automatically. A "Containers" smart button on the PO surfaces every linked batch.
Scheduled Quantities Control Policy
A new "On scheduled quantities" control policy is added to the product purchase configuration, letting you schedule receipts against containers before goods physically arrive. Per-line scheduled quantities are tracked on the purchase order, only unscheduled remainders show up in the container wizard, and vendor bills can be drafted directly from the scheduled quantity. Set the Ready Date once and it cascades from the PO to every order line, making vendor-confirmed pickup dates easy to manage.

This module is compatible with both Odoo Community and Enterprise editions (Version 19.0). It depends on the standard Purchase, Inventory, and Batch Transfers (stock_picking_batch) modules, and integrates seamlessly with native purchase, receipt, and batch workflows.
Quick Start Guide
Install the Module:
- Navigate to Apps in the Odoo main menu
- Search for "Rooteam Stock Container" or "rt_stock_container"
- Click the "Install" button to activate the module
- Inventory and Purchase menus gain new container-aware actions immediately after install
Configure Container (Batch) Types:
- Navigate to Inventory → Configuration → Batch Types
- Click "New" and give the container type a name (e.g. "40ft HC", "20ft Standard")
- Enter the Volume Capacity in your configured volume unit of measure
- Enter the Weight Capacity in your configured weight unit of measure
- Save — the new container type is now available on every stock picking batch
Set Control Policy to "On Scheduled Quantities" (Optional):
- Open the product form for any purchasable product
- Go to the "Purchase" tab
- Under "Control Policy", select "On scheduled quantities"
- Save the product — future POs for this product can now be scheduled against containers before physical receipt
- Repeat for any other products you want to schedule against containers
Assign Purchase Order Lines to a Container:
- Create or open a confirmed Purchase Order
- Optionally set the Ready Date (vendor-confirmed pickup date)
- Click the "Add to container" button on the header
- Choose "Select Existing Container" to drop the PO lines on an existing batch, or "Create New Container" to start a fresh one
- Set the Container Type, ETA, and ETD — review the live weight % and volume % progress bars
- Confirm the wizard — the receipt picking is generated and linked to the container
Receive the Container & Review:
- Navigate to Inventory → Operations → Transfers (or open the container from the PO's "Containers" smart button)
- Open the receipt picking linked to the container batch
- Validate the transfer as usual once the goods physically arrive
- Capacity progress bars and totals update across the batch, the picking, and the originating purchase orders
- Return to the PO and use the "Containers" smart button at any time to review every container linked to that order
FAQs
Does this module support Odoo Community & Enterprise edition?
Yes, the module is fully compatible with both Odoo Community and Enterprise editions (Version 19.0). It depends on the Purchase, Inventory, and Batch Transfers modules (purchase_stock and stock_picking_batch), which are available in both editions.
How is container capacity utilization calculated?
Each container type defines a weight capacity and a volume capacity. As pickings are added to a container batch, the module aggregates the estimated shipping weight and volume from every move and divides by the capacity to display live used weight % and used volume % progress bars on the batch form, the wizard, and the batch list view.
Can I add purchase order lines to an existing container instead of creating a new one?
Yes. On the Purchase Order form, click "Add to container" and choose "Select Existing Container". Pick any draft or in-progress container batch from the list, set the quantities to schedule against it, and confirm. The wizard shows live capacity progress bars so you can see exactly how much room is left in the chosen container before confirming.
