Sale Goal
Monthly Sales Targets by Salesperson
Define monthly revenue and quantity goals per salesperson, broken down by product and product category. Track real-time achievement with automatic progress updates.
What We're Solving
----------------
No Granular Goal Tracking
Odoo's native gamification module does not allow defining goals broken down by product or product category. Teams have no visibility into which specific products are meeting targets.
Stale Reporting
Without automatic triggers on order and invoice events, sales managers must manually refresh data, leading to outdated dashboards and poor decision-making.
Privacy Issues
Without proper Record Rules, any salesperson can see goals set for others, creating competitive friction and privacy concerns within the sales team.
Credit Notes Not Deducted
Standard reports often count returned goods at full value. Our engine automatically subtracts Credit Notes from achieved quantities and amounts for accurate performance measurement.
Setup & User Manual
Step-by-Step implementation
1. Configuration Guide
Set up sales goals in 4 simple steps:
- Go to Sales > Sales Goals > New.
- Select the Salesperson, Month, and Year.
- Choose Data Source: Sale Orders or Invoices.
- Add Goal Lines: select type (Product or Category), set Qty Target and Amount Target.
2. Operating Manual (Workflow)
How the system behaves day-to-day:
Auto-Triggered Updates
When a salesperson confirms a Sale Order or a Customer Invoice is validated, the module automatically recomputes their goal progress — no manual action needed.
Manual Update Button
An Update Results button is available on the form view and as a bulk action in the list to force an immediate recompute for one or multiple salespeople simultaneously.
Credit Notes Deducted
Customer credit notes (returns) are automatically subtracted from the achieved figures, ensuring that returned goods do not inflate performance metrics.
Category Tree Support
Goals set at the category level automatically include all products from all subcategories (using Odoo's child_of operator), so hierarchical product catalogs are fully supported.
Analysis Views
Use the built-in Pivot and Graph views (Sales > Sales Goals > Goals Analysis) to compare achievement across salespeople, months, and data sources.
Flexible Data Source
Each goal can independently track progress from either confirmed Sale Orders or validated Customer Invoices, adapting to your company's revenue recognition policy.
Global Ready | Multi-Language Support
This module is fully translated into English and Spanish (en_US, es_ES, es_PE, es_MX), ensuring a professional experience for international organizations.

QA / User Testing Scenarios
Enterprise Validation Plan
Scenario 1: Sale Order Goal Tracking
- Go to Sales > Sales Goals > New.
- Select a Salesperson, current Month and Year. Set Data Source = Confirmed Sale Orders.
- Add a goal line: Type = Product, select a product, set Qty Target = 10, Amount Target = $5,000.
- Save. Test: Confirm a Sale Order for that salesperson with 3 units of the product.
- Result: Qty Achieved = 3, Amount Achieved = price × 3, % auto-calculated.
Scenario 2: Invoice-Based Goal + Credit Note
- Create a goal with Data Source = Validated Customer Invoices.
- Add a category-type line targeting "All" with Qty Target = 50.
- Post a Customer Invoice: 10 units. Result: Qty Achieved = 10.
- Post a Credit Note: 3 units. Result: Qty Achieved = 7 (NC deducted).
Scenario 3: Copy Previous Month
Create goals for February. Navigate to March. Click Copy Previous Month. All February goal lines appear pre-filled in March — ready for adjustment without re-entry.
Scenario 4: Salesperson Privacy (Record Rules)
- Log in as a Salesperson (not Manager).
- Go to Sales > Sales Goals.
- Result: Only their own goals are visible — other salespeople's goals are hidden.
- Attempt to edit a goal. Result: Access Denied (read-only for salesperson role).
Scenario 5: Bulk Update from List View
- Go to Sales > Sales Goals (list view).
- Check the boxes for multiple salespeople.
- Click Action > Update Results.
- Result: All selected goals recompute immediately from source data.
FAQ & Troubleshooting
Common Resolutions
My goal shows 0% after confirming an order.
Reason: The Data Source may not match.
Fix: Check that the goal's Data Source is set to Confirmed Sale Orders (not Invoices) and that the order was confirmed within the goal period's month/year.
Can the same salesperson have multiple goals for the same month?
Answer: No — one goal record per salesperson/month/year (UNIQUE constraint).
Solution: Add multiple goal lines within the same goal record — each line can target a different product or category.
Why does a Credit Note reduce my achieved amount?
Answer: By design. Credit Notes represent returned goods or refunds.
Detail: The engine applies a negative sign to out_refund lines so that returned products do not count as revenue.
Is this compatible with Multi-company?
Answer: Yes!
Detail: Goals are scoped to a specific company. The UNIQUE constraint includes company_id, so users in multiple companies can have independent goals per company.
