Quick Find — Spotlight Search

A blazing-fast spotlight overlay to search, pin, and open any Odoo record in seconds

Features

1 Spotlight Search (Alt+K)

Press Alt+K or click the search icon in the systray to open a beautiful spotlight overlay. Type at least 2 characters and results appear instantly with a 350ms debounce. Navigate with arrow keys and open any record with Enter.

2 Multi-Field Search

Searches go beyond the name field. Contacts are also searched by email, phone, and reference. Products by barcode and internal reference. Invoices by reference and payment reference. All models searched in parallel for maximum speed.

3 Recent Records

Every record you open via Quick Find is automatically saved to your Recent tab (up to 10 items). Jump back to recently visited records without typing a single character. One-click Clear All button to reset.

4 Pinned Favorites

Click the pin icon on any search result to save it as a favorite. Pinned records appear in the Pinned tab for quick one-click access (up to 20 items). Unpin anytime with a single click.

5 Preview Info & Model Icons

Each result shows extra context: email & phone for Contacts, amount & status for orders, barcode for products. Model groups display recognizable icons — for Sales, for Purchases, for Contacts, and more.

6 Quick Create

Below the search results, one-click Quick Create buttons appear for every model that returned results. Jump straight to a new form view without leaving the spotlight. Also available when no results are found.

Full Keyboard Navigation

Open with Alt+K, navigate with arrow keys, open with Enter, close with Escape. Zero mouse required.

Configurable Models

Choose exactly which models to search in Settings → General Settings → Quick Find. Supports any Odoo model with a name field.

Parallel Search

All models are searched simultaneously on the server side. Results arrive fast regardless of how many models are configured.

Dark Mode Support

Full dark mode styling included. The spotlight adapts to Odoo’s dark theme automatically.

Lightweight & Standalone

Only depends on base_setup. No extra Python libraries, no database-heavy models. Pure JS + OWL component with minimal backend.

350ms Debounce

Smart debounce prevents excessive server calls while typing. Version tracking ensures only the latest search results are displayed.
