What is Smart AR Follow-Up?
Managing overdue invoices shouldn't be chaotic. Smart AR Follow-Up brings structure to your accounts receivable process by letting you log, track, and schedule follow-up activities directly on each customer invoice. Whether it's a phone call, email, meeting, or WhatsApp message â every interaction is recorded with full audit trail, automated reminders, and smart filtering.
Key Features
Follow-Ups Tab on Every Invoice
A dedicated "Follow-Ups" tab is added inside the invoice form. Log calls, emails, meetings, and WhatsApp messages without leaving the invoice â everything stays in context.
Status Tracking with Badges
Track each follow-up through a clear workflow: Pending â Waiting â Promise to Pay â Done. Color-coded badge widgets make status instantly visible.
Smart Button on Invoice
A smart stat button with ð icon appears on the invoice form showing the total number of follow-ups. Click it to view all follow-ups for that invoice in a single list.
Automatic Daily Reminders
A daily scheduled action (cron) automatically creates a To-Do activity on every invoice whose next follow-up date is today, assigned to the responsible user. Never miss a follow-up again.
Chatter Integration
Every time a follow-up is created, an automatic note is posted on the invoice's chatter (e.g., "New follow-up logged: Call by John"). Full audit trail without any manual effort.
Smart Filters & Group-By
Dedicated search filters: Today's Follow-Ups, My Follow-Ups, and status-based filters. Group by Status, Type, Responsible, or Customer to analyze your follow-up pipeline.
Follow-Ups Tab Inside the Invoice
Log every interaction directly on the invoice. The inline-editable list lets you add follow-ups without navigating away â date, type, next follow-up, status, and notes â all in one place.
Smart Button â One-Click Access
See the follow-up count at a glance on every invoice. Click the smart button to jump directly to the follow-up list filtered for that invoice.
Dedicated Follow-Ups List View
Access all follow-ups from the dedicated menu under Accounting â AR Follow-Up â Follow-Ups. Filter by today's tasks, your own follow-ups, or group by status and customer for a complete overview.
Automatic Reminders & Chatter Logs
The daily cron job creates To-Do activities on invoices due for follow-up. Every follow-up creation is automatically logged in the invoice chatter for a complete audit trail.
How It Works
Open Invoice
Navigate to any customer invoice in Odoo and click the "Follow-Ups" tab.
Log Follow-Up
Add a new row â select the type (Call, Email, Meeting, WhatsApp), set the date, and add notes.
Schedule Next
Set the Next Follow-Up Date and assign a responsible user. The cron will handle the rest.
Get Reminded
On the scheduled date, a To-Do activity is created automatically on the invoice. Take action and mark as Done.

The module adds a new menu item under the Accounting app. You can also access follow-ups directly from any invoice via the smart button or the Follow-Ups tab.
