Standard Odoo currency rates are updated manually or via limited built-in providers. This module fetches live rates from frankfurter.app, with automatic fallback to exchangerate-api.com if the primary source fails, on a configurable schedule. Every fetch is logged, every sale/purchase order can lock its rate at confirmation, and forex gain/loss can post automatically when payments settle.

Choose how often rates refresh ? every 15 minutes, hourly, every 6 hours, or once daily. Set it once in Settings and let it run unattended.

1 Settings ? Configure Cron, Rate Lock & Forex Accounts

Under Settings, pick the fetch frequency, toggle rate lock on order confirmation, enable auto forex gain/loss journals, set the gain/loss accounts, and turn rate alerts on or off.

2 Currency Form ? Fetch Now & Last Fetch Status

Click "Fetch Now" on any currency to pull the latest rate instantly. The form shows last fetch date, success/failed status, and source API used.

3 Rate History ? List & Graph View

Every successful and failed fetch is logged with rate, inverse rate, source, and timestamp. Switch to graph view to see the trend over time at a glance.

4 Sale / Purchase Order ? Locked Rate Carries to Invoice

When rate lock is enabled, confirming an SO or PO freezes the exchange rate on the order. The invoice generated from it reuses that exact rate, eliminating mismatch surprises.

5 Rate Variance Report ? Wizard & PDF/XLSX Export

Filter forex payments by date range, partner, and currency, then generate a PDF or Excel report comparing invoice rate vs. payment rate for every settled transaction.

Configure Settings

Pick a fetch frequency, enable rate lock and/or auto forex journal, set gain/loss accounts.

Cron Fetches Rates

The scheduler pulls live rates from frankfurter.app, falling back to open.er-api.com if needed.

Rate Logged & Checked

Every fetch is logged to history. If a threshold alert is set, crossing it triggers an email notification.

Order Locks the Rate

If enabled, confirming an SO/PO locks the live rate. The invoice that follows reuses it exactly.

Payment Posts Forex Entry

On payment, if the rate differs from the invoice, the gain/loss is auto-posted to the configured accounts.
