The Stock - Generate Debit and Credit Notes module seamlessly integrates your inventory operations with your accounting system. Generate accounting documents directly from stock transfers with just one click, ensuring accurate financial tracking of your inventory movements.
Key Features
✓ Generate Credit Notes from Outgoing Shipments
Automatically create credit notes when products leave your warehouse. Perfect for returns, refunds, or any outgoing inventory adjustments that need accounting documentation.
✓ Generate Debit Notes from Incoming Shipments
Create debit notes (refunds) for incoming stock movements. Ideal for purchase returns or any incoming inventory that requires accounting entries.
✓ Configurable by Operation Type
Choose which picking types should generate credit or debit notes. Configure different rules for receipts, deliveries, internal transfers, and more through the Inventory settings.

View and access generated credit notes and refunds directly from the stock picking form with convenient smart buttons.

Invoice lines are automatically populated with product information, quantities, and prices from the stock moves:
- Credit Notes: Uses product sales price (list price)
- Debit Notes: Uses product cost (standard price)
✓ Duplicate Prevention
Built-in validation prevents creating multiple credit or debit notes for the same picking, ensuring data integrity.
How It Works
1. Configuration
Go to Inventory → Configuration → Settings and configure:
- Generate Debit Notes from Pickings: Select which operation types should trigger debit note creation
- Generate Credit Notes from Pickings: Select which operation types should trigger credit note creation
2. Usage
When viewing a stock picking:
- Click "Create Credit Note" button to generate a credit note (for configured outgoing operations)
- Click "Create Refund" button to generate a debit note (for configured incoming operations)
- The system automatically creates the accounting document with all product lines
- You're redirected to the created document to review and confirm
3. Tracking
Smart buttons appear on the picking form showing:
- Credit Note: Access the generated credit note
- Refund: Access the generated refund
Use Cases
Customer Returns
When a customer returns products, create the return picking and generate a credit note in one click.
Supplier Returns
Return defective products to suppliers and automatically generate the corresponding debit note.
Inventory Adjustments
Document inventory adjustments with proper accounting entries directly from stock movements.
Warehouse Transfers
Generate accounting documents for inter-company or inter-warehouse transfers that require financial tracking.
