1. Configuration Phase
Follow these steps carefully to configure the duplicate policies:
Step 1: Access Operation Types
- Navigate to Inventory > Configuration > Operation Types.
- Select the specific operation you want to control (e.g., "San Francisco: Receipts" or "Delivery Orders").
Step 2: Define Policy
Inside the Operation Type form, locate the Duplicate Control group (usually in a dedicated tab or section).
- Allow (Default): No checks are performed. Duplicates are permitted without restriction.
- Warning: The system will alert the user via a popup and a banner if duplicates are detected. The user CAN proceed and save.
- Block: The system will prevent adding duplicates. If imports or other methods introduce them, saving the record is strictly prohibited.
Step 3: Save
Click the Save button. The policy is now active for all new pickings of this type.
2. Operational Workflow
Usage scenarios for end-users:
Warning Workflow
Scenario: User adds "Product A" twice.
- A Popup appears: "Duplicate Lines Detected".
- A Yellow Banner appears at the top: "The following products are duplicated...".
- Action: The user can review the warning. If intentional, they can ignore it and validate the transfer.
Blocking Workflow
Scenario: User adds "Product A" twice.
- A Popup appears: "Duplicate Blocked".
- The system automatically clears the duplicate product from the line.
- If duplicates are introduced via Import/API: The system throws a Validation Error upon saving, preventing the record from being stored.

FAQ & Troubleshooting
Expert Answers
How does detection work exactly?
The system creates a unique key using (Product ID + Description). If two active lines share this key, they are duplicates.
Can I use it for Manufacturing?
Currently, this module specifically targets Stock Pickings (Receipts, Deliveries, Internal Transfers). Manufacturing Orders (MOs) are a separate model.
What about existing duplicates?
The constraint is triggered on Save or Write. Existing records with duplicates remain untouched until someone tries to edit and save them.
Does it support Barcode Scanning?
Yes. If a barcode scan adds a line that creates a duplicate, the system will trigger the same validation logic (Warning or Block) upon saving or updating the line.
