MACRS tax depreciation, Section 179, bonus depreciation, half-year / mid-quarter / mid-month conventions and a book-vs-tax depreciation worksheet for US fixed assets
Key Features
GDS recovery classes
3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 20-year property with the correct default method per class (200% declining balance for 3/5/7/10-year, 150% declining balance for 15/20-year) and a straight-line option.
Automatic DB-to-SL switch
The engine derives each year's recovery percentage from first principles and switches from declining balance to straight line in the first year that is advantageous - exactly reproducing the published IRS optional tables to the penny.
All three conventions
Half-year, mid-quarter (with the correct per-quarter first-year fractions) and mid-month.
Section 179 expensing and bonus depreciation
Elect a §179 amount and a bonus depreciation rate; the module applies §179 first, then bonus on the remaining basis, then MACRS on what is left, and folds all three into the year-1 deduction.
Listed-property handling
Business-use percentage, a year-1 deduction cap (luxury-auto style) and the under-50%-business-use straight-line rule.
Mid-quarter test
Aggregate a company's assets for a tax year, compute the Q4 share of basis and, if it exceeds 40%, switch all affected assets to the mid-quarter convention and recompute.
Book-vs-tax worksheet
A straight-line GAAP schedule runs alongside the tax schedule so each year shows tax depreciation, book depreciation and the temporary book-tax difference, with running accumulated totals.
Disposal & recapture
Record a sale, and the module computes adjusted basis, gain or loss and §1245 ordinary-income depreciation recapture.

Why Choose This Module
Stop running your federal tax depreciation in a spreadsheet. This module computes the full Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System (MACRS) schedule for every fixed asset, in parallel with its GAAP book schedule, and reports the year-by-year book-tax difference your tax provision needs.
