Office File Preview
Preview Word, Excel & PowerPoint files directly in Odoo
Key Features
- Click to Preview — Click any Office attachment in the chatter to open a preview popup. No more downloading just to check a file.
- High-Fidelity Rendering — Uses Microsoft Office Online viewer for accurate document rendering, preserving formatting and layout.

- Secure Access — Temporary access tokens ensure files are only accessible during preview. Tokens expire automatically.
- Graceful Fallback — When the preview service is unreachable, a friendly message with a download button is shown instead.

How It Works
When you click on an Office file attachment in the chatter, the module:
- Generates a temporary access token for the file
- Opens a preview popup using the Microsoft Office Online viewer
- The viewer renders the file with full formatting support
- You can download the file from the preview window if needed
Important: Public Server Required
This module requires your Odoo instance to be deployed on a publicly accessible server. The Microsoft Office Online viewer needs to fetch your files via a public URL. This module will not work on local/internal network deployments.
File access is secured via temporary access tokens that expire automatically. Only the specific file being previewed is temporarily accessible, and only for a limited time.
