Report PDF Preview
Preview PDF reports in your browser before downloading
Key Features
- In-Browser Preview — When you print a PDF report, a preview window opens instead of immediately downloading the file.
- Print & Download — Print or download the report directly from the preview window using PDF.js built-in controls.
- Per-User Setting — Each user can enable or disable the preview from their Preferences page. Enabled by default.
- Loading Indicator — A progress bar is shown while the PDF is being rendered, so you know the report is loading.
- Zero Configuration — Works out of the box after installation. No system-wide settings required.
How It Works
By default, Odoo downloads PDF reports directly to your computer. This module intercepts the PDF report action and displays the report in a built-in viewer popup. From there you can:
- Review the report content before printing
- Print the report using the viewer's print button
- Download the PDF file if needed
- Close the preview to go back to your work
Configuration
Go to User Menu → My Profile → Preferences tab, and find the "Report PDF Preview" checkbox. Uncheck it to restore the default download behavior.
Compatibility
- Odoo 19 Community & Enterprise
- Only affects PDF reports (qweb-pdf). HTML and text reports are not modified.
- No additional system dependencies required.
