Showcase Your Product Categories with Style
Website Category Carousel adds a ready-to-use Website Builder snippet that displays your Odoo eCommerce categories as a smooth, infinite auto-scrolling carousel. Drag it onto any page, pick the categories you want to highlight, and configure the layout — all from the visual Website Builder sidebar, with no code required. The carousel pauses on hover, adapts to mobile screens, and supports three image shapes (square, rounded, circle) and two display modes (image + category name, or image only). Each category card links directly to its shop listing page.

Rich Builder Options
Configure items per slide (desktop & mobile separately), autoplay speed (Fast / Normal / Slow), display type (Image + Name / Image Only), and image shape (Square / Rounded / Circle) — all live from the sidebar.
Pause on Hover
The carousel automatically stops scrolling when the visitor moves their mouse over it, letting them read category names or click a card without missing it. Resumes as soon as the cursor leaves.
Mobile-Ready
A dedicated Items per slide (mobile) setting lets you show fewer cards on small screens. Images are responsive and lazy-loaded for optimal performance on any device.
Website Builder Options
Every setting is available live in the builder sidebar — no Save required to preview changes.
Categories
Multi-selector (up to 50 records) of eCommerce categories. The carousel fetches each category's cover image (or main product image as fallback) and links it to its shop category page.
Items per Slide (Desktop & Mobile)
Number of category cards visible simultaneously. Default: 4 on desktop, 2 on mobile. The track resizes fluidly as you change the values.
Autoplay Speed
Three presets: Fast (2 s), Normal (3 s), Slow (5 s). A lower value means a faster scroll, with silky-smooth rendering on every frame.
Display Type
Image + Name (default): shows the category image with a bold name label below it. Image Only: shows the image alone for a cleaner, more visual layout — ideal when category images are self-explanatory.
Image Shape
Three shapes available: Square, Rounded (default), Circle. Changing the shape updates every card instantly in the live editor.
How to Use
From category setup to a live scrolling carousel in eight easy steps.
Go to eCommerce Categories
In the Odoo backend, navigate to Website › eCommerce › Categories to view and manage your product categories.
Review the Category List
The list shows all existing eCommerce categories. Create new ones or open an existing category to add a name and cover image that will appear in the carousel.
Add a Name and Image to Each Category
Open each category and set its Name and upload a cover image. These are the values the carousel will display. A well-chosen image makes all the difference.
Open the Website Editor
Go to your website and click Edit in the top bar to enter the Website Builder. Navigate to the page where you want to add the carousel (home page, a landing page, etc.).
Drag the Category Carousel Snippet
In the Blocks panel, find Category Carousel under the Structure group and drag it onto the page. The snippet appears immediately with a “No categories found” placeholder until you configure it.
Select the Categories to Display
Click on the snippet and use the Categories field in the right-hand options panel to pick the categories you want. The carousel updates live as you add or remove entries.
Preview the Carousel
The selected categories appear instantly as scrolling cards with their cover images and names. Hover over the carousel to pause it and inspect the cards before saving.
Fine-Tune the Settings & Save
Adjust Items per slide, Autoplay speed, Display type, and Image shape from the sidebar panel. When satisfied, click Save to publish the carousel to your visitors.
