⭐ Website Shop Previously Purchased
Instantly surface every product a logged-in customer has ever ordered - as a dedicated “Last Ordered” filter in both the shop filmstrip and the sidebar - so they can reorder in seconds without searching.
Standard Odoo eCommerce has no way for a logged-in customer to see only the products they have previously bought. Every reorder means browsing the full catalog, searching by name, or scrolling through dozens of categories - even for a routine restocking run.
- Returning customers cannot filter the shop to their past purchases
- Routine reorders waste time re-searching for familiar products
- B2B buyers who restock the same items monthly have no shortcut
- There is no personalized view on the shop page for loyal customers
- Cart abandonment rises when customers cannot quickly find what they always buy
This module adds a ⭐ Last Ordered entry to both the shop category sidebar and the top filmstrip category bar. When a logged-in customer clicks it, the shop instantly shows only the products they have purchased before - pulled from their confirmed sales orders. Guest visitors see nothing extra; the filter appears only for authenticated users who have at least one past order. No configuration required.
- ⭐ Last Ordered sidebar entry: Added at the top of the shop category sidebar, visible only to logged-in customers with past purchases
- Filmstrip pill (top bar): A matching pill is injected at the start of the horizontal filmstrip category bar - consistent with the standard Odoo shop UX
- Smart toggle: Clicking the active “Last Ordered” pill again deactivates the filter and returns to the full shop - no need to use the browser back button
- Confirmed-orders only: Only products from confirmed or completed sales orders appear - draft quotations are excluded
- Guest-invisible: The filter and pill are completely hidden for public (non-logged-in) visitors - zero impact on the standard browsing experience
- Combines with search and attributes: Works alongside the existing search bar, attribute filters, and price range - customers can filter to past purchases and then narrow further
- Category browsing intact: Standard category filtering continues to work normally - both standard and previously-purchased views are fully operational
- Zero configuration: Install and it is immediately active - no settings, no toggles, no extra steps
Without This Module
- Shop shows all products - no personal history filter
- Returning customers must search by name or scroll to find familiar products
- No shortcut for routine monthly restocking
- B2B buyers lose time on every reorder navigating the full catalog
- No distinction between new visitor and loyal customer on the shop page
With This Module
- Logged-in customers see ⭐ Last Ordered in the sidebar and filmstrip
- One click shows only previously purchased products
- Reorders take seconds instead of minutes
- B2B buyers get a personalised shortcut to their regular items
- Guests and new shoppers see the standard catalog unchanged
Customer Logs In and Opens the Shop
A returning customer signs in to their portal account and navigates to the shop page. If they have at least one past confirmed or completed order, the module detects this and adds the ⭐ Last Ordered entry to the top of the sidebar and injects a matching pill into the horizontal filmstrip bar.
Click “⭐ Last Ordered”
The customer clicks the ⭐ Last Ordered link in the sidebar
or the pill in the filmstrip. The page reloads with
?previously_purchased=1 in the URL.
The active filter is highlighted with bold underline (sidebar) and an active pill
state (filmstrip) so the customer always knows which filter is applied.
Shop Shows Only Previously Purchased Products
The shop product grid updates to display only the products the customer has ordered in the past - drawn from their last 50 confirmed or completed sales orders. Pagination, attribute filters, and the search bar all remain functional within this filtered view.
Customer Adds to Cart and Checks Out Normally
The customer selects the products they want to reorder and adds them to the cart with the standard Odoo add-to-cart flow. The checkout process is completely unchanged. Nothing about order processing, pricing, or payment is modified by this module.
Click Again to Return to the Full Catalog
Clicking the active ⭐ Last Ordered pill in the filmstrip a second time deactivates the filter and returns to the full shop - no browser back button needed. The sidebar link always stays available for switching in and out of the filtered view instantly.
Shop Page - “⭐ Last Ordered” Pill First in Filmstrip
Portal user Joel Willis is logged in. The ⭐ Last Ordered pill appears at the very start of the horizontal filmstrip category bar - before all standard category pills (Desks, Furnitures, Boxesâ¦). The full product catalog is still visible; the filter is ready to use with a single click.
Filtered View - Only Previously Purchased Products Shown
After clicking ⭐ Last Ordered, the shop grid shows only the products Joel Willis has ordered before - in this case, two subscription services from past confirmed orders. The pill is highlighted with a border to indicate the active filter. Clicking it again deactivates the filter and returns to the full catalog.
Guest View - Standard Shop, No Extra Pills
A public visitor sees the shop exactly as it would look without this module installed - category pills in the filmstrip, standard sidebar filters, and no ⭐ Last Ordered entry anywhere. Zero visual change for guests.
B2B Monthly Restocking
A wholesale buyer who orders the same 20 items every month opens ⭐ Last Ordered and adds everything to the cart in under a minute - no searching, no scrolling.
Repeat Consumer Orders
A loyal retail customer returns every few weeks. Instead of browsing the full catalog, they go straight to their personal previously purchased view and refill their usual items instantly.
Office Supplies Procurement
An office manager replenishes supplies quarterly. The ⭐ Last Ordered filter surfaces their standard list of consumables without needing to remember product names or categories.
Manufacturing Consumables
A factory portal user reorders the same raw materials and consumables each production run. The previously purchased filter eliminates all catalog navigation and reduces order entry to a two-step flow.
Healthcare Consumables
A clinic or pharmacy purchasing manager replenishes medical consumables from a known approved list. The Last Ordered view ensures they never accidentally order the wrong variant.
Educational Institution Supplies
A school purchasing officer reorders stationery and lab supplies each term. The previously purchased filter narrows hundreds of catalog items to the familiar subset they use every semester.
Installation & Configuration
- Install: Copy the module folder to your custom addons path, then go to Apps → Update App List → search “Website Shop Previously Purchased” and click Install
- No configuration needed: The module activates immediately after installation - no settings to toggle
- Portal user accounts: Customers must be logged-in portal users. Grant portal access via Contacts → select contact → Action → Grant Portal Access
- Test: Log in as a portal user who has past confirmed orders → open the shop → confirm ⭐ Last Ordered appears in the sidebar and filmstrip → click it → verify only previously purchased products are shown
- Guest check: Open the shop without logging in - confirm the sidebar and filmstrip look identical to a standard Odoo shop (no extra entries visible)
Faster Reorders
Returning customers find their usual products in one click instead of navigating the full catalog - reducing reorder time from minutes to seconds and improving customer satisfaction.
Higher Customer Retention
A personalised reorder shortcut rewards loyalty and makes your store the easiest place for repeat buyers to return to - reducing churn to competitors with better UX.
Zero Impact on Guests
Guest visitors and new customers see nothing different. The module adds no visual noise or extra UI elements for users without order history - the standard shop experience is fully preserved.
Zero Maintenance
Install once and forget it. The module runs silently, uses standard Odoo search infrastructure, and needs no ongoing configuration or updates to keep working as the product catalog grows.
