Technical Features

1. Set Up the Product Builder
From Website > Configuration > Product Builders, create a new builder, give it a name, assign it to a website, and let Odoo generate its public page URL.
2. Add Parts and Product Categories
Add as many parts as your product needs, and link each one to a product category. Odoo automatically counts how many products are available for each part.
3. Customer Opens the Builder Page
On the website, the builder page lists every part as a card. Customers click a part to start choosing a product for it.
4. Browse Products for That Part
Each part opens its own product listing, filtered to only the products in its assigned category, with pricing and images just like the regular shop.
5. Confirm a Product in Quick View
Customers can open a quick-view popup to check product details and confirm their choice for that part without leaving the listing.
6. Part Marked as Selected
Back on the builder page, the chosen product now appears on that part's card, and customers can still change it before moving on.
7. All Parts Selected
Once every part has a product assigned, the build is complete, its full summary is displayed, and the customer can add an order note before adding it to the cart.
8. Review Before Add to Cart
Every product selected as part of the build appears as its own line on the cart/checkout page, so customers can review everything before adding to the cart.
9. Added to Cart
The completed build is added to the cart in one action, and the customer is taken straight to checkout.
10. Builder Reference on the Sales Order
In the backend, each order line generated by a build shows a tag linking it back to the Product Builder it came from, making builds easy to identify and report on.
11. Customer Note on the Sales Order
Any note the customer left while building their product is saved on the sales order's Other Information tab, visible to your sales team.
