Hide Consumed Components on Shopfloor
One toggle on the Bill of Materials removes the component list from the Shopfloor tablet - operators see a clean, distraction-free screen with only the operation steps. Zero clutter. Zero scrolling.
By default, Odoo's Shopfloor interface lists every consumed component underneath each work order card. This is useful for inventory tracking, but for operators standing at a machine it is mostly noise - it eats screen space and slows down navigation between steps.
- Operators must scroll past component lists to reach the actual step actions
- Small tablet and kiosk screens get overloaded with redundant data
- Simple, full-access work orders show a component list nobody needs to interact with
- New operators get distracted or confused by information that isn't part of their task
- There is no built-in Odoo setting to simplify this view per product or BOM
- Customizing the Shopfloor UI otherwise means Studio hacks or custom development
Enable Hide Consumed Components on WO directly on any Bill of Materials. Every manufacturing order and work order created from that BOM instantly shows a clean Shopfloor card - no component rows, just the operation name, quantity, and the Mark as Done / Next Step actions. Turn it off at any time to bring the component list straight back - nothing else about consumption or inventory changes.
- One-Field BOM Toggle - a single "Hide Consumed Components on WO" checkbox added directly to the Bill of Materials form
- Per-BOM Granularity - simplify the Shopfloor for the products that need it, keep full detail on the rest
- Automatic Propagation - the setting flows from the BOM to every Manufacturing Order and Work Order generated from it
- Applies Across Views - hides components whether the Shopfloor is grouped by production order or by work center/operation
- Instant & Reversible - toggle on or off any time; the change is reflected the next time the Shopfloor loads, no restart needed
- UI-Only Change - only the visual component list is hidden; stock moves, consumption, costing, and traceability are untouched
- Keeps Operation Steps Intact - Worksheet, Register Production, quality checks and Mark as Done all keep working exactly as before
- No Extra Menus or Wizards - nothing new to learn; the field sits right next to BOM Type on the existing form
- Lightweight Integration - extends Odoo's own Shopfloor (Work Orders) screens instead of replacing them
- Odoo 18 & 19 Ready - dedicated builds available for both series
Step 1 - Enable the Toggle on the Bill of Materials
Open Manufacturing -> Products -> Bills of Materials, select the BOM to simplify and switch on Hide Consumed Components on WO, right next to the BOM Type selector.
Step 2 - Confirm a Manufacturing Order
Create or open a Manufacturing Order that uses the BOM, then click Confirm. The Shop Floor button in the top bar opens the tablet-friendly work order view.
Step 3 - Standard Odoo: Components Take Up the Screen
Without this module, every consumed component is listed under the work order card - operators have to scroll past each one to reach Mark as Done.
Step 4 - With the Module: A Clean, Focused Card
The exact same work order, same BOM, same product - but with the toggle enabled the component list disappears completely. Only the operation and its action buttons remain.
Tablet & Kiosk Workstations
Small screens at the machine benefit the most - operators tap through steps without scrolling past component data they don't need.
Simple Manual Assembly
For full-access BOMs where consumption is automatic and not manually registered, the component list is pure clutter - hide it.
New Operator Onboarding
A simplified screen with only the steps to execute reduces training time and confusion for new floor staff.
Multi-Step Routings
Routings with several operations per BOM stay readable - each card shows only what that step is about, nothing more.
Standardizing Across Products
Roll out a consistent, distraction-free Shopfloor across an entire product range by enabling the toggle BOM by BOM.
Mixed Environments
Keep the full component list on BOMs where floor staff still need it, and hide it only where it adds no value - product by product.
Faster Step Navigation
Operators reach Mark as Done and Next Step immediately, without scrolling through component rows on every card.
Cleaner Tablet Screens
Small kiosk and tablet displays show only what matters to the person standing at the workcenter.
No Impact on Inventory Accuracy
Purely a display setting - component consumption, stock valuation, and traceability keep working exactly as standard Odoo intends.
Zero Configuration Overhead
One checkbox on a form you already use - no new settings screens, groups, or workflows to maintain.
1 - Open the Bill of Materials
Manufacturing -> Products -> Bills of Materials -> select or create the BOM for the product you want to simplify on the Shopfloor.
2 - Enable the Toggle
Switch on Hide Consumed Components on WO, next to the BOM Type field -> Save.
3 - Confirm and Open the Shop Floor
Confirm a Manufacturing Order using that BOM and open Shop Floor. Every work order card for this BOM now shows only the operation and its action buttons.
- The toggle lives on the BOM - it applies to every Manufacturing Order created from it
- Only the visual component list is hidden; consumption and stock moves are unaffected
- Quality checks, worksheets, and register-production steps keep working normally
- Toggle off at any time to instantly bring the component list back
- Requires the Shop Floor (Work Orders) feature to be installed
