Chatter Activity Visibility
Chatter Activity Visibility keeps planned activities between the people directly involved. The assignee, activity creator, and system administrators can see an activity, while unrelated users do not receive the same chatter entry.
Completion authority follows responsibility. Assignees can edit and complete their activities. Creators who assigned work to another user retain a cancel path without being able to decide the assignee's outcome.
Access by Role
- Assignee: can see, edit, complete, and cancel the activity.
- Creator who is not the assignee: can see and cancel the activity, but cannot edit or complete it.
- System administrator: can see and manage the activity.
- Other users: cannot see or act on the activity.
Core Behavior
- The assigned user keeps Odoo's standard Mark Done, upload-and-complete, editing, feedback, and scheduled follow-up tools.
- A creator who assigned the activity to another user keeps a cancellation path without receiving editing or completion controls.
- Users who are neither the assignee nor the creator do not see the activity in the record's chatter.
- System administrators retain visibility and operational control across activity assignments.
- Server-side checks protect editing, completion, and deletion even when an operation is requested outside the visible chatter buttons.
Native Odoo Security
Odoo's normal model and record access checks remain active. This module narrows activity visibility and authority; it does not grant access to an underlying business record that Odoo would otherwise restrict.
Installation and Use
No model-specific configuration is required.
- Install Chatter Activity Visibility from Apps.
- Open a form view that includes Odoo chatter.
- Schedule an activity and assign it to another internal user.
- Review the record as the assignee, creator, and an unrelated user to confirm each role's intended view.
Requirements and Compatibility
The module depends on base, web, and mail and is designed for Odoo 19 form views that use the standard chatter activity component.
