The backend your Odoo
always deserved
Multi-company theming, a genuine dark mode, a live Theme Studio and lightning-fast navigation â configured entirely without code, with zero Enterprise dependency.
A premium backend experience â finally on Community
Out of the box the Odoo backend is functional but plain, and Community Edition ships no dark mode, no branding controls and no personalization. Backend Theme Pro closes that gap with an enterprise-grade, fully configurable appearance engine built entirely on modern OWL components and CSS variables â no jQuery, no inline hacks, no recompiling.
The everyday problem
The Backend Theme Pro solution
A complete toolkit, organised into four pillars
Each feature earns its place â grouped so you can see exactly what you get and why it matters.
Modern Navigation Sidebar
Full, collapsed icon-rail with fly-out, or mobile drawer â driven by the standard menu service, so your access rights are always respected.
Dark / Light / Auto Modes
A real dark mode for Community (which ships none), per user, with an Auto option that follows the operating system.
Automatic Contrast
Pick any sidebar or header colour and the text and icons recolour themselves for legibility using WCAG luminance.
Fully Responsive Layout
Desktop, tablet and mobile are first-class â the sidebar becomes an off-canvas drawer and layouts adapt to phone widths.
Multi-Company Theming
Every theme setting lives on the company â switch the active company and the whole backend re-skins instantly.
Palette Builder + 5 Presets
Classic, Corporate, Material, Flat and Dark Professional â each sets the full palette, radius and typography in one click.
Typography & Density
Curated font stacks (System, Inter, Roboto, Classic, Serif) and three UI density levels â Compact, Default, Comfortable.
Theme Profiles & Portability
Save a whole look as a named profile, import / export it as portable .json, and roll back â every apply is auto-backed-up.
Command Palette
Press Alt+K to fuzzy-search every app and nested menu, jump to recent records and open pinned favourites â keyboard-driven.
Personalized Homepage
An opt-in landing with a time-aware greeting, company branding, pinned apps, recent records and an all-apps grid.
Multi-Tab Workspace
An opt-in tab strip under the top bar tracks the screens you open, so you can switch between several at once.
Favourites & Recents
Star the apps and menus you use most; pinned apps surface at the top of the sidebar, and recents are one keystroke away.
Environment Badge
Mark each database Production / Staging / Test / Dev with a coloured pill and optional top ribbon.
Developer Quick-Tools
An opt-in admin wrench menu showing the database, Odoo version and environment, with one-click developer-mode switching.
Login-Page Builder
Brand the login screen from Settings â background colour / gradient / image, logo, a welcome title and subtitle.
Accessibility & Custom Code
High-contrast mode, reduced motion and clear focus rings â plus admin-only site-wide custom CSS / JS injection.

Configure everything â from one place, without code
Company-wide defaults live in Settings ⸠Backend Theme Pro; each user personalizes their own view from the Theme Studio. Here is every configuration screen, what it does and why it matters.
Appearance â preset, palette, geometry & typography
What it does. Pick a one-click preset, then fine-tune the brand palette (primary, secondary and semantic colours), border radius, interface font and UI density â all stored per company.
Purpose. Establish the overall look of the backend in minutes, then adjust to your exact brand guidelines.
Business use case. A partner rolling out Odoo to a client applies the client's brand colours and logo font before go-live â no SCSS, no rebuild.
Navigation â sidebar, scrollbar, layout, header & tabs
What it does. Choose a docked sidebar or an Enterprise-style top bar, the scrollbar presentation, boxed vs full-width content, header height and whether the multi-tab workspace strip is on.
Purpose. Shape how people move through the ERP to match your team's workflow and screen sizes.
Business use case. A data-entry team prefers a compact icon-rail and boxed content for focus; a management team keeps the full sidebar and workspace tabs for multitasking.
Colours â sidebar & header, with auto-contrast
What it does. Set independent sidebar and header colours â background, text, icons, hover and active states, plus the notification badge and search box. Leave text colours blank to auto-compute a readable value.
Purpose. Achieve pixel-perfect brand colour on the chrome while never sacrificing legibility.
Business use case. A company with a bold brand shade paints the sidebar in it and lets auto-contrast pick the right text colour, then overrides one accent by hand.
Accessibility & theme profiles
What it does. Toggle high-contrast and reduced-motion (which also honours the OS setting), and save / open / import / export / reset complete theme profiles with automatic backups.
Purpose. Make the workspace usable for everyone, and make a configured look portable and reversible.
Business use case. An organisation with accessibility obligations enables high-contrast defaults; an implementer exports the finished theme and imports it into the production database.
Login builder & custom code
What it does. Brand the login screen â background colour / gradient / image, logo, welcome title and subtitle, optional cleaner footer â and inject site-wide custom CSS (and, with a clear warning, JS).
Purpose. Extend your brand to the very first screen, and fine-tune the backend without editing the module.
Business use case. A hosted client wants their logo and a branded gradient on the sign-in page, and a small CSS tweak to a corporate font â all done from Settings by an administrator.
Environment badge & developer tools
What it does. Name and colour the environment badge, add an optional top ribbon, choose its visibility (all internal users or administrators only), and enable the admin developer quick-tools menu.
Purpose. Prevent costly mistakes by making the current database unmistakable, and give admins fast dev switches.
Business use case. A team running Production, Staging and Test databases labels each with a distinct colour so no one edits real records in the wrong place.
Per-user Theme Studio (top-bar brush icon)
What it does. Gives every user a slide-out panel to personalize mode, accent, sidebar/header colours, scrollbar, font, density and layout â with instant live preview, saved to their own profile.
Purpose. Let individuals tailor comfort settings without IT and without affecting anyone else's view.
Business use case. One user prefers dark mode and a compact density; another keeps the company light theme â both start from the same company default.
Looks great â and pays for itself
A better backend isn't just cosmetic. It drives adoption, reduces fatigue and reinforces your brand on every screen your team touches.
Improved User Experience
A clean, modern interface with dark mode and density controls reduces eye strain and makes daily work more pleasant.
Stronger Branding
Your colours, fonts and identity on every page â the ERP feels like your software, not generic off-the-shelf tooling.
Increased Productivity
Command-palette search and the app launcher cut clicks and menu-hunting, helping users reach any screen in seconds.
Consistent Corporate Identity
Company-wide defaults keep every department visually aligned, while still allowing personal comfort settings.
Multi-Company Flexibility
Give each subsidiary its own look from a single database â perfect for groups, franchises and holding structures.
Higher Employee Adoption
A polished, personalizable workspace people enjoy using means less resistance to the ERP and faster onboarding.
