Often Odoo contacts' fields are not enough to reflect specifics of your relations with partners, while customization requires developer competences. This Odoo tool is introduced to make everything as simple as creating a new document in Odoo. The app let you prepare new partner properties fast and comfortable.

New partner fields without technical knowledge

In order to add a new column for Odoo contact, just prepare a custom field. Nothing else is required! Find the app menus under Contacts > Configuration.

Simple interface placement

Choose an interface location for a new field from a closed list to structure properties for users. Make fields required to be entered by merely checking a related box.

High variety of field types

Single line text (char), simple text without formatting (text), rich text (HTML-formatted text), integer or float numbers, drop-down choice with your own options (selection), checkbox (boolean), date or date and time, binary (a file to upload), reference to another Odoo document (e.g. for a sale order, contact; many2one).

Complementary typology for contacts

The tool introduces complementary contacts' typology. Show fields for partners only of specific types, and do not show for others. Thus set of columns for 'corporations' and 'small and medium size enterprises' might be different.

Compatible with standard Odoo features

Custom fields might be used in Odoo advanced partners' search to add new filters. It is possible to import and export custom properties. Developers can use custom fields in their scripts and view adaptations.

Safe customization

The rights to create custom fields for contacts belong to ERP managers and to users with the security group 'Partners Custom Fields Editor'.

Please make sure:

1. After adding a custom field, you have hardly reloaded the page (ctr+shift+r)

2. If the custom field was created for a particular type of objects, then try to open any object of that type.

According to the current Odoo Apps Store policies:

  • every module bought for the version 12.0 and prior gives you an access to the all versions up to 12.0.
  • starting from the version 13.0, every version of the module should be purchased separately.
  • disregarding the version, purchasing a tool grants you a right for all updates and bug fixes within a major version.

Take into account that faOtools team does not control those policies. By all questions please contact the Odoo Apps Store representatives directly.

The easiest approach is to use the Odoo store built-in workflow:

1. Open the module's page and click the button Deploy on odoo.sh

2. After that, you will be redirected to the GitHub page. Login to your account and click 'Create a new repo' or use the existing one. Please, make sure, that your repository is private. It is not permitted to publish the apps under the OPL-1 license. If necessary, create a new repo for your Odoo.sh project

3. Then, go to odoo.sh and click on the deploy button, submit the decision in the pop-up window and click 'Continue'. The action will trigger the installation process.

These steps would install the app for your project production branch. If you wanted to deploy the apps for other branches or update the module, you should undertake the following actions:

1. Upload the source code for the app from the Odoo store

2. Commit the module to a required GitHub repository. Make sure that none of the app folders/files are ignored (included in the .gitignore of your repo). Repositories are automatically created by odoo.sh, which might add by default some crucial items there (e.g. /lib). You should upload all module directories, subdirectories, and files without exceptions

3. Deploy a target branch of the odoo.sh project or wait until it is automatically built if your settings assume that.

  1. Unzip source code of purchased tools in one of your Odoo add-ons directory

  2. Re-start the Odoo server

  3. Turn on the developer mode (technical settings)

  4. Update the apps' list (the apps' menu)

  5. Find the app and push the button 'Install'

  6. Follow the guidelines on the app's page if those exist.

Yes, sure. Take into account that Odoo automatically adds all dependencies to a cart. You should exclude previously purchased tools.

No, third party apps can not be used on Odoo Online.

Yes, all modules marked in dependencies are absolutely required for a correct work of our tool. Take into account that price marked on the app page already includes all necessary dependencies.  

Red / orange warning itself does not influence features of the app. Regretfully, sometimes our modules do not pass standard automatic tests, since the latter assumes behavior which is in conflict with our apps goals. For example, we change price calculation, while standard Odoo module tests compare final price to standard algorithm.

So, first of all, please check deployed database features. Does everything work correctly?

If you still assume that warning influences real features, please contact us and forward full installation logs and the full lists of deployed modules (including core and third party ones).

The price for our modules is set up in euros. The Odoo store converts prices in others currencies according to its internal exchange rate. Thus, the price in US Dollars may change, when exchange rate changes.

Hello, I am a user of this module, it is easy to operate. However, some problems are found during use, and if improvements can be made, this module will solve more problems and have greater sales.

The contacts of odoo are divided into companies and individuals, and companies and individuals display different information respectively. However, I found that when creating custom fields through the customization module, it is impossible to distinguish between individuals and companies. The created fields will be displayed in both individuals and companies.

If you can add a choice when creating, the control field appears in the individual or company, which will make the experience of using this module better.

In the first place: thank you for sharing your ideas!

Simultaneously, the app already has the feature to have different custom fields for different types of Odoo partners. Thus, the app introduces so-called complementary typology which allows to distinguish partners by any criteria. Please find in your Odoo interface:

  1. The menu entry 'Contacts' > 'Configuration' > 'Custom Contact Types'. Here you can introduce any structure of not only individuals / companies, but any. For example, 'individuals', 'small enterprises', 'large organizations', etc

  2. The column 'Types' on each custom field form. If you entered here any type, such a custom field would be visible only for partners of the related type

  3. The field 'Partner Type' on the right column of a partner form. If selected, only fields related to this type would be shown there.

Thus, in order to reach the goal you described, you should set up this typology, amend custom fields for that, and introduce a type for different partners.

The reason why we have implemented this 'complementary' typology is that partners might be divided by a number of criteria: individuals/companies, suppliers/customers, portal users/internal users/no users, or even your own typology. That's why we offer more flexible tool when you can implement your own single structure. Regretfully, there is no an efficient way to combine all of typologies in a single one except introducing a new typology.
