Print scenarios

Besides that you can print manually (just by clicking on a button), you can dramatically reduce your routine with automatic print scenarios. It means that printing can be done automatically after triggering some action. You can define any scenario you wish based on the built in examples, or even use them. The module includes the most common print scenarios such as:

Our quality standards

Provided that we had to fix many code quality issues related to a variety of connectors presented on the Odoo market (Ebay, Amazon, USPS, FedEx, Shopify, WooCommerce, UPS, Quickbooks, custom connectors, etc.) and it wasted the nerves of our customers, testers, and developers, we developed our own quality standards.

Typical issues that clients faсed using other connectors / bridges:

Impossibility to scale functionality together with business growth
Most solutions are OK when you have an Odoo standard with no or very few customizations. But functionality breaks in a real production environment for different reasons, even if you make a simple change (e.g., some orders are not synchronized, prices for products are not synchronized, etc.);
Stability
When even simple change had been made in Odoo (e.g., adding a barcode to a product), total instability occurrences increased (e.g., for some reason, orders stopped coming or product prices stopped syncing).
Need to pay the vendor for extending / fixes. And even this did not always help
Our customers tried to make their connectors work at a level of at least acceptably "stable" and bought hundreds of service hours from vendors. It’s reasonable to pay the code authors, as they should know their own apps, right? Unfortunately, the changes were still not working and this lowered their margin. They spent money with the vendors and then had to spend it again to fix it all with us, because situations had already become critical.
Alerts about errors
When connectors had stopped syncing orders or prices, our clients learned about this only after a few days or months of sync failure, when they received customer calls about not delivered orders, or when they started analyzing margin and understood that they were selling with a resulting negative margin!

We have been fixing these problems and similar ones in different connectors and other modules. Such occurrences would not present a good situation for you, because you already purchased the module and everything is supposed to be working. And it’s not good for us, because instead of delivering features that bring benefit quickly, we have to fix something that you think is working.

Cheap solutions sound attractive, but we have already integrated Shopify, PrestaShop, Magento 1, Magento 2, WooCommerce, QuickBooks, and we know – these connectors cannot be cheap! It is not only about connectors, but about analyzing catalogs, making decisions about variants and product templates, figuring out what attributes should be synced from Odoo, and deciding on what should be edited directly on the e-commerce side only... and many other less-than-obvious factors.

Odoo is like a LEGO construction; it has many bricks. If looking at bricks separately, they seem to work fine. But everybody likes LEGOs because of the final "solution". And combining them depends on the quality of each brick. This is why we at VentorTech deliver only high-quality products that can be easily integrated with other products, and our solutions don’t block you while scaling and growing. It seems to be expensive initially but saves you a lot of investments and headaches in the future.

However, I can't manage to set up a printnode scenario allowing :
- to print the BL
- then a label
with only one trigger which is the validation of the BL

Hello. Yes, it should work with no problems. To use our module you need to have subscription on one of services: - print.ventor.tech - printnode.com Both of these services uses the drivers installed on your computer to communicate with your printer, so if you can print to it, our module can print to it.

Can it print any attachment?

I have a question. Our shipping labels are stored as attachments. We download them when clicking on a button in barcode screen (called Print Packing Slip & Label) using a URL (like /web/content/{attachment_id}?download=1) and there's no ir.actions.report.

Does this module fit our use case?

Hello,

Yes, it should work for your case.

Actually, there are two ways to print attachments with our module:

- Add special action to model (Print Attachments). After this you can print any attachments with this action.

- Use "Use Attachments Printing for Shipping Label(s)" checkbox to print shipping labels from attachments automatically. This checkbox designed especially for third-party modules to get shipping labels.

I'm interested in your Direct Print solution, and was wondering if printnode.com is still needed for an odoo v15 enterprise on-premise, all printers are whithin the local network and most are networked enabled, some are HP lasers and few zebra printers also network enabled with a wifi print servers or networked print servers.

Ideally , since all printers are local printnode would not be required.

Hello!

Thank you for your question. Yes, our module requires additional subscription to print: Direct Print or printnode.com. This is because in most cases it is not possible to send documents directly to the printer from Odoo (because printers are connected to the different servers/computers/etc).

Would prefer to send directly from the server to the printer, insead of having to send to printnode and then back to our network to the actual printer.

there is another module equal to this one and even for POS also something that this one does not have and the other one does not charge monthly fees everything works in the local or vps at ease without third parties

Hello Josue,

Every customer has it's own demands. We know about other modules. Our solution is based on experience from businesses of our customers and their needs, that is why we developed it. And as experience shows - this type of solution is the most suitable for businesses.

Also remember that printing protocol in it's nature is not allowing to direct print when printer is not in the same networks as Odoo server. In this case you have to know how to setup VPN (and that means you have to pay sys admin for maintaining it). But anyway after this you will need to develop solution with automatic printing scenarios to develop what you really need.

If you have any doubts or you need to understand technical details, you also can watch/read below resources:

We receive a email from printnode.com :

Each print job is assigned a numeric identifier, known as the print job id. Until now, these ids have always been representable by a 32-bit integer. However, our system will soon have to start using ids which exceed the limits of 32-bit representation. This means that when you create a print job, PrintNode will return an integer which cannot be stored as a 32-bit value.

If your PrintNode integration is storing or processing print job ids using a signed 32-bit integer, we strongly recommend switching to a 64-bit representation by April 15th 2022 to ensure that your system continues to function correctly.

Can you confirm if your V13 module will still be compatible after April 15 if PrintNode returns a 64-bit long integer?

as mentioned in the description of the module, unfortunately Odoo POS is not supported yet. Odoo POS is working in absolutely different way than the rest of Odoo in terms of printing reports.

Can you clarify the question? Our solution allows to have printer in local network and Odoo installed on any server in the internet (self-hosted or Odoo.sh)
