Advanced Task Timer
Advanced Task Timer Odoo App turns every project task into something you can time with one click. Hit Start on a task, the live counter appears in the top bar of your screen, and you can pause, resume, or stop from wherever you are working, kanban, list, or the task form.
When you stop, a short popup shows the captured time and asks for a description, then writes that entry straight into the task's timesheet. No copying the time over by hand, no guessing how long something took. If the work was a false start, one click discards the time so nothing bogus lands on the sheet.
It is meant for project teams, agencies, consultants, and service businesses where billable hours, accurate reporting, and clean timesheets matter. Each user runs their own timer; only one runs at a time, so accidental double tracking stops at the door.
Features
Start, Pause, Resume, Stop
Track time on any task with four simple actions. Pausing holds your time, resume continues from where you left off, so nothing is lost.
Live Timer In The Top Bar
A widget in the top bar shows the running counter and the task name from every screen, with one-click pause, stop, view task, and discard.
Controls In Every View
Start, Pause, Resume, and Stop buttons sit on the kanban card, the list row, and the task form, so users work the way they already prefer.
Automatic Timesheet Entry
Stopping the timer writes the captured duration and description straight into the task's timesheet, so users skip the manual entry step.
Description Required On Save
A short note is required before the time can be saved, which keeps timesheets meaningful for billing, reporting, and review.
Discard A Bad Session
Started on the wrong task or left a timer running by mistake? One click discards the captured time, so it never reaches the timesheet.
One Timer Per User
Starting a second task while one is still running shows a warning naming the active task, so accidental double tracking is prevented.
Real-Time Updates
Start a timer in one tab, the kanban, list, and form in other tabs update without a refresh, so the team always sees the same state.
Start Timer From Kanban
Every task in the kanban shows a green Start button, so users can begin tracking time on a piece of work without first opening the task.
Systray Timer Controls
While a timer is running, a widget in the top bar shows the live counter along with the task name, and offers Pause, Stop, view-task, and discard, all reachable from any screen.
Pause Or Stop From The Task Form
Opening the running task shows Pause Timer and Stop Timer buttons in the form header, so the user can act from the same screen they are reviewing.
Resume A Paused Timer
Pausing freezes the counter and replaces Start with Resume, so the user can step away for a meeting or a break and pick the same task back up without starting over.
Stop The Timer
When the work is finished, hitting Stop ends the session and opens the entry where the captured time can be saved straight to the task's timesheet.
Stop Timer Window
The Stop Timer popup shows the task being timed and the captured duration in hours, and offers Save Timesheet, Discard, and Cancel, so the user can decide what to do with the time on the spot.
Description Is Required
Saving without writing a description shows a clear validation message, so no time entry slips onto the timesheet without context on what was done.
Add Description And Save
Typing a short description of what was done and clicking Save Timesheet posts the duration and the note straight to the task, ready for billing or review.
Restart Time On The Same Task
Once a session is saved, the card returns to a Start button, so the user can begin a fresh session on the same task whenever they pick it back up.
Timesheet Tab Updated
Every saved session lands in the task's Timesheets tab with the date, employee, description, and time spent, and the totals at the bottom keep running automatically as more sessions are added.
Timer Controls In List View
From the task list, every row carries the same Start, Pause, Resume, and Stop controls, so users who prefer the list layout can run the timer right there.
Start Timer On Another Task
When no timer is active, every task in the kanban is ready to be started, so the user can move on to the next piece of work in a single click.
Only One Timer At A Time
Trying to start a second task while one is still running shows a warning that names the running task, so the user stops the current one before opening the next.
