Installation Overview

Ongea for Odoo is a comprehensive AI-powered WhatsApp integration that requires proper setup of Meta WhatsApp Business API and Google Gemini AI services.

Prerequisites: Odoo 16.0+, WhatsApp Business Account, Google Gemini API Key, Public HTTPS URL

🏢 Company Configuration

Setting Up Your Company Configuration

Navigate to Ongea → Configuration → WhatsApp Configuration to set up your company's WhatsApp integration.

Select your company from the dropdown
Toggle the Active field to enable the configuration
Each company can have only one WhatsApp configuration

📱 Meta WhatsApp API Setup

Creating a Meta App

First, you need to create a Meta Developer App and set up WhatsApp Business API access.

Steps:

Go to Meta for Developers
Click "Create App" and select "Business" as the app type
Add WhatsApp product to your app
Get your App ID, App Secret, Phone Number ID, and Business Account ID
Generate a permanent access token with required permissions

Enter all your Meta credentials in the Meta API Configuration tab.

🔗 Webhook Configuration

Setting Up Webhooks

Webhooks allow Meta to send incoming WhatsApp messages to your Odoo instance.

Important: Your Odoo instance must be publicly accessible via HTTPS for webhooks to work.

Configuration Steps:

Copy the Webhook URL from your Odoo configuration
Set a Webhook Verify Token in Odoo
In Meta Developer Console, go to WhatsApp → Configuration
Add your webhook URL and verify token
Subscribe to "messages" webhook field

Verify Your Meta Connection

After entering your credentials, test the connection to ensure everything is set up correctly.

Click the Test Connection button. You should see a success notification if the credentials are valid.

Getting Your Gemini API Key

Steps:

Go to Google AI Studio
Click "Get API Key" and create a new key
Copy the generated API key

Go to the AI Configuration tab and paste your Gemini API key. Select your preferred model (Gemini 2.5 Flash recommended).

Tip: For production use, consider enabling billing on your Google Cloud account for higher rate limits.

Testing Your AI Agent

AI Agents process user queries and interact with your Odoo data. A default agent is created during installation.

Navigate to Ongea → AI Management → AI Agents and click Test Agent to verify it's working correctly.

Click Create and enter the phone number (format: +1234567890)
Optionally link to an Odoo contact for personalized responses
Set access levels and permissions

Ongea maintains conversation context to provide intelligent, contextual responses across multiple messages.

System administrators can view and manage conversation contexts at Ongea → System → Conversation Contexts

Privacy Note: Conversation contexts are stored securely and can be configured with retention policies.
