POS Lot & Serial Number Selection

This module extends Odoo Point of Sale (POS) by allowing cashiers to select Lot/Serial Numbers directly during the POS sales process. It also supports Expiration Date tracking for better inventory management

Features

Lot & Serial Number Selection in POS

This module enables cashiers to choose specific lot numbers or serial numbers at the time of sale directly in the Point of Sale interface. Instead of relying on the backend to manage lots, the cashier can view all available lots or serials for a product and select the appropriate one in real time.

Expiration Date Tracking

For industries dealing with perishable or time-sensitive goods, expiration management is critical. With this feature, the POS shows each lot expiration, best before, removal, and alert dates so cashiers can make informed decisions while selling.

6.) POS Order with Assigned Lot Number

Once the lot is selected, the POS order reflects the assigned lot number alongside the product details. Here, the Storage Box has been sold with Lot Number Lot/01, ensuring that the sales record is directly tied to a specific inventory batch. This integration enhances traceability, as businesses can track which customer received products from which lot. Such detailed tracking is critical for managing product recalls, handling customer complaints, and complying with industry regulations.

7.) Create and Manage Serial Numbers

This screen allows users to create and manage lot/serial numbers for products directly from the backend inventory module. In the example, the product Storage Box has multiple serial numbers assigned (Ser/01, Ser/02, Ser/03, Ser/04). Each entry displays the on-hand quantity, reserved quantity, history, and replenishment options, giving full control over stock movement.

Navigation : Point of Sale → Product Variants → Product → Update Quantity

8.) Serial Number Selection Popup

This screen appears when adding a serialized product to the cart in POS. The system prompts the cashier to select available serial numbers before proceeding. It clearly shows the lot/serial number, available quantity, expiration date, removal date, and use date, ensuring accurate product tracking. Cashiers can increase or decrease the quantity for each selected serial and remove unnecessary ones.

9.) Serialized Product Added to Cart

Once the cashier selects the serial numbers, they are displayed directly under the product in the order line. In this example, the Storage Box is added with two specific serial numbers (Ser/01 and Ser/02). This makes it easier for both cashier and customer to confirm which exact units are being sold. By tying sales to unique serials, businesses gain traceability, better warranty handling, and after-sales service support.
