Overview
Attachment Search Based on Models
Attachment Search Based on Models enhances the search functionality in Odoo by allowing users to
find records based on the names of attached files.
In Odoo, users often upload documents (PDFs, images, etc.) inside records (like Contacts, Sales
Orders, Products). However, searching those records using the attachment file name is not
possible by default.
This module solves that problem by enabling users to:
👉 Search using attachment file name
👉 And instantly find the record where that file is attached
Additionally, this functionality works only for selected models configured in settings, ensuring
controlled and optimized usage.

Configuration
Configuration for Attachment Search Based On Models :
- Navigate to Settings → Attachment Search Based on Models
Select Models
- In the Models field, choose the models where attachment-based search should be enabled
Examples:
- Products
- Employee
- Bills of Materials
- Bank Account
- Click on Save button
How It Works:
- Open any configured module (e.g., Employee)
- Ensure a file is attached to a record (e.g., Resume Anita Oliver)
- Go to the search bar and type: Resume
- Click on : “Search Attachment for: Resume”
- The system will search attachment names, identify matching files, and return the records to which those files are attached.
