POS Customer Credit Limit in Odoo
The POS Customer Credit Limit module helps enforce and manage customer credit policies directly within the Odoo Point of Sale interface. It empowers store administrators to enable real-time credit limit validation during the checkout process. When a customer attempts to place an order that exceeds their defined credit limit, the module dynamically displays an alert and can either allow the cashier to proceed with a confirmation warning or strictly block the transaction entirely. Additionally, it offers a dedicated "POS Credit Hold" toggle to instantly suspend a specific customer's ability to make credit purchases, ensuring complete financial control over POS credit sales.
Features
- Real-Time Credit Validation – Instantly check a customer's current credit balance against their assigned limit before validating an order.
- Configurable Limit Behavior – Configure the system to either warn the cashier but allow the sale, or strictly block the transaction when a limit is exceeded.
- POS Credit Hold – Place individual customers on a dedicated credit hold to immediately suspend all their new credit-based point of sale purchases.
- Live Accounting Data Retrieval – Automatically fetches the most current, synchronized customer credit data directly from the accounting backend to prevent overspending.
- Visual Status Indicators – Easily see the customer's available credit directly on the POS screen along with calculated receivable credit on the payment screen.
Go to Settings > Point of Sale > PoS Interface and activate the Customer Credit Limit feature.
Alternatively, you can activate the Customer Credit Limit feature directly from Point of Sale > Configuration > Point of Sale.
Navigate to Orders > Customers to manage individual credit profiles.
Select a specific customer and open the dedicated POS Credit tab.
Define the Credit Limit and ensure "Partner Limit" is checked to enforce valid limits. You can also toggle "POS Credit Hold" to immediately block all credit purchases for this customer.
Open a Point of Sale session from the dashboard.
Start processing orders in the active Point of Sale session screen.
Select a customer to view their available credit limit directly in the POS interface.
The customer's available credit limit and hold status will be clearly displayed.
If the credit limit is exceeded, a warning pop-up will appear. Depending on your When Limit Exceeded configuration ("Warn and Allow"), the cashier may still select to proceed.
Alternatively, if When Limit Exceeded configured to "Block Order", the system will completely prevent the validation of orders that exceed the allowed credit limit.
In the POS interface, the system will prominently indicate if a selected customer's credit is currently on hold.
A strict pop-up warning will prevent the cashier from processing the order if the customer is under a credit hold.
The POS Payment screen dynamically calculates and displays the total receivable credit based on the active order in real-time.
