How It Works
Odoo Module Setup
Install Module
Install the Employee GPS Tracking Module into your Odoo server.
Set Company Location Data
Go to Odoo Company Settings, open the Office Locations tab, and enter your company coordinates (latitude and longitude).
Configure Geofencing Radius
Set the geofence distance in meters. Employees can only check in and check out within this range.
Link Employee with Odoo User
Link the employee profile to their Odoo user account so they can log in to the mobile app.
Android Mobile App Flow
Install Mobile App
Install the mobile application on the Android device (ensure the Odoo server module is already installed).
Employee Login
Employee logs in to the mobile app using their linked Odoo employee credentials.
Enable Location Permissions
Grant the required Location data permission on the device to allow coordinates capture.
Geofenced Check-In and Check-Out
The app validates the employee's GPS coordinates, authorizing check-in and check-out only when physically present within the designated geofenced boundary.

Is the mobile application working on both iOS and Android? ▼
A: Currently, the mobile application supports Android only.
How many concurrent users can be tracked at the same time? ▼
A: There is no predefined limit on concurrent users.
Do all employees need an Odoo user account? ▼
A: Yes. Each employee requires valid Odoo login credentials to log in to the mobile application.
Does the mobile application work offline? ▼
A: No. The mobile application requires an active internet connection and works in online mode only.
Does the user need to keep the mobile application open all the time after starting tracking (Check-In)? ▼
A: No. Once the user logs in using Odoo credentials, grants the required location permissions, and performs Check-In, location tracking continues in the background. Even if the application is minimized or terminated by the user, the application continues fetching location data according to the device's background location capabilities. Tracking remains active until the user stops tracking or performs Check-Out.
Is employee location tracking automatic after login? ▼
A: No. Employees must explicitly perform Check-In to start location tracking. Tracking stops when the employee performs Check-Out or manually stops tracking.
Can an employee track multiple devices with the same account simultaneously? ▼
A: The module is designed for employee-based tracking using Odoo login credentials. Tracking data is associated with the logged-in employee account.
Is a Google Maps API key required? ▼
A: Yes. If you want to display real-time employee locations and GPS tracking history on Google Maps within the Odoo backend, a Google Maps API key must be configured in the module settings.
Are there any additional charges for using the Google Maps API? ▼
A: Yes. Google Maps API usage may incur additional charges based on Google's pricing model. These charges are billed directly by Google and are not included with this module.
The actual cost depends on usage patterns, including the number of active Odoo users viewing maps, map refresh frequency, and other Google Maps-related activities within the Odoo backend.
As Google Maps pricing is usage-based, we recommend reviewing Google's official pricing documentation to estimate potential costs based on your expected usage volume.
How is the Google Maps API key used in the Odoo backend? ▼
A: The Google Maps API key is used to render Google Maps and display employee location information and tracking history within the Odoo backend.
Is employee location history stored in Odoo? ▼
A: Yes. GPS coordinate history is stored in the Odoo database and can be viewed from the tracking history screens.
Is the GPS coordinate history retained indefinitely by default? Is the retention period configurable? ▼
A: Yes. The GPS history retention period is configurable. You can define the number of retention days according to your requirements from the module configuration settings.
Are employee locations updated in real time? ▼
A: Yes. Employee locations are updated based on the tracking intervals configured within the mobile application and module settings.
What permissions are required on the mobile device? ▼
A: The mobile application requires Background Location permission to collect and transmit GPS coordinates to Odoo.
Can employees stop location tracking at any time? ▼
A: Yes. Employees can stop location tracking by performing Check-Out or manually stopping tracking from the mobile application.
Is GPS tracking available only during working hours? ▼
A: GPS tracking follows the employee's tracking status. Location data is collected while tracking is active and stops when tracking is stopped or Check-Out is performed.
How is the company geofencing radius configured? ▼
A: Configure the company's Latitude and Longitude in the Odoo Company Office Information tab, then set the maximum geofencing radius (in meters) in the module settings. The mobile application calculates the employee's aerial distance from the company location and allows Check-In/Check-Out only when the employee is within the configured geofencing radius. Please refer to the screenshots above for more details.
Can employees Check-In or Check-Out outside the company geofencing radius? ▼
A: No. Employees cannot perform Check-In or Check-Out outside the company geofencing radius configured in the Odoo backend. The employee must be within the allowed company geofence area to complete Check-In or Check-Out.
Can employees Check-In or Check-Out without granting Background Location permission on their Android device? ▼
A: No. Employees must grant Background Location permission in the mobile application. Without the required Background Location permission, the application cannot perform GPS tracking and Check-In/Check-Out functionality as designed.
Does the mobile application consume mobile data? ▼
A: Yes. The mobile application requires an active internet connection to send GPS coordinates to the Odoo server. Mobile data usage depends on the tracking frequency configured in the application.
License Policy
To ensure quality support and continuous updates, the usage of this module and its accompanying mobile application is subject to the following polite license terms:
- Single Deployment Scope: The purchase of this module licenses its use for a single domain (URL), a single Odoo version, a single Odoo database, and one pre-configured mobile android mobile application.
- Additional Purchases: Using this application on different domains/URLs or upgrading/running it on different Odoo versions requires an additional license purchase for each environment.

Staging & Testing: You may install and test the Odoo module on your local or staging database at no additional cost. If you require a separate pre-configured mobile application (APK) connected to a staging or testing domain, a one-time fee of 20% of the base application price will apply.
The staging APK is provided for testing purposes only and is valid for a limited time. After the validity period expires, a new staging APK can be requested if additional testing is needed. - Distribution Restriction: Redistribution, resale, or sub-licensing of the Odoo source code or the mobile application package (APK) is not allowed.
