1. Configuration
Enable the logic per project:
- Go to Field Service > Configuration > Projects.
- Select your FSM Project.
- Enable "Use Lost Reason" in settings.
- (Prerequisite: "Allow Material" must be enabled).
2. Operating Manual (Workflow)
How it works for the technician:
Successful Sale
If the user creates a Sales Order and Confirms it, they can "Mark as Done" immediately. No questions asked.
No Sale? Explain Why
If the user tries to "Mark as Done" without a confirmed SO, a popup wizard appears requiring a "Lost Reason".

Scenario 1: Sale Confirmation (Validation)
- Create a new FSM Task.
- Create a Sales Order linked to it and Confirm it.
- Test: Click "Validate" or "Mark as Done" on the Task.
- Result: Task moves to Done state immediately. No wizard is shown.
Scenario 2: No Sale (Intervention)
- Create a new FSM Task. Do NOT add any Sales Order.
- Test: Click "Validate" or "Mark as Done".
- Result: A "Lost Reason Required" wizard pops up.
- Select a reason (e.g. "Too Expensive") and confirm.
- Result: Task moves to Done state. Lost Reason is saved on the task.
FAQ & Troubleshooting
Common Resolutions
I can't see the "Use Lost Reason" setting.
Reason: You need to enable "Allow Material" first.
Fix: In Project Settings, enable "Allow Material" (Billable), then "Use Lost Reason" will appear.
Where do I configure the reasons?
Answer: These are standard Odoo Lost Reasons.
Go to: Sales > Configuration > Lost Reasons.
