Task Stage Followers
Auto-subscribe the right people when a task reaches a specific stage
The Problem
Different stages of a task require different people's attention. When a task moves to "QA Review", the QA team should be notified. When it moves to "Deployment", DevOps should know. Odoo does not support stage-based follower management out of the box.
The Solution
Configure notification contacts per stage. When a task enters that stage, those contacts are automatically added as followers and notified. No manual work, no forgotten notifications.
Features
Stage-Based Rules
Each task stage can have its own list of contacts to auto-subscribe. Define once, applies to all tasks that enter the stage.
Automatic Notifications
When contacts are subscribed, they receive a notification. They immediately know a task needs their attention.
No Duplicates
If a contact is already following the task, they will not be added again. Clean follower lists, no spam.
Example Workflow
Development → Dev Team Lead auto-subscribed
Code Review → Senior Developer auto-subscribed
QA Testing → QA Team auto-subscribed
Deployment → DevOps Engineer auto-subscribed
Done → Project Manager auto-subscribed
Configuration
- Go to Project → Configuration → Task Stages
- Open a stage
- Add contacts to the "Notification Contacts" field
- When any task enters this stage, those contacts become followers
