Overview
Restrict Negative Stock
The "Restrict Negative Stock" module in Odoo ensures accurate and reliable inventory management
by preventing stockable products from falling below zero.
It automatically blocks any stock operation - such as deliveries, pickings, manufacturing orders,
or internal transfers - that would result in negative stock.
This keeps inventory data consistent and prevents errors caused by overselling or over-consumption.
For flexibility, the module also provides configurable exceptions that allow specific products,
product categories, or warehouse locations to bypass this restriction when needed.

Configuration
1. Allow Negative Stock on Product
Navigate to "Inventory → Products → Products".
Open the desired product.
In the "General Information" tab, locate the checkbox "Allow Negative Stock".
2. Allow Negative Stock on Product Category
Go to "Inventory → Configuration → Categories".
Open the needed category.
Enable or disable the "Allow Negative Stock" option.
This applies the rule to “all products” within that category.
If the parent category has Allow Negative Stock set to True, then all its child
categories will also be set to True automatically.
However, if Allow Negative Stock is enabled or disabled only in a child category,
it does not affect or change the parent category’s checkbox.
3. Allow Negative Stock on Locations
Navigate to "Inventory → Configuration → Locations".
Select the desired stock location.
Use the "Allow Negative Stock" checkbox to allow or block negative stock at that location.
Behaviour :
Set as False: The system blocks deliveries, transfers, and PoS orders when the
available stock is insufficient.
Set as True: Stock operations will be allowed even if the available quantity becomes negative.
After performing the operations, the product quantity becomes negative.
POS Negative Stock Note :
In the Point of Sale, the negative stock restriction is controlled only from the Product level.
The settings applied at the Product Category or Stock Location level do not influence
POS orders, meaning POS will follow only the product’s “Allow Negative Stock” configuration.
