Data Quality Scanner

Catch dirty data every day with rules you write, before it breaks a report.

Every Odoo database decays: partners with no email, vendors missing a VAT number, malformed SKUs, stale references pointing at deleted records. Data stewards and operations managers usually find out only when a month-end report crashes. This module scans on a daily cron against rules you define and collects every violation into a finding list, posting to the source record's chatter once so recurring issues never spam users.

Five rule types
Required field, regex format, value-in-list, stale value, and orphan reference cover most cleanup.
Self-resolving findings
Each violation is one row, and it clears itself once the record passes the rule again.
Weekly digest
An email to admins ranks the rules with the most open findings, so cleanup gets prioritized.
Where it pays for itself: It replaces the consultant week of data cleanup that every Odoo deployment keeps deferring, and then keeps the data clean for good.

Data Quality Scanner

Run a rule-based daily data-health scan for missing fields, bad formats, stale values, and orphan references.

What it does

Every Odoo database decays over time: partners without emails, products with malformed SKUs, stale references pointing at deleted records, required fields left blank at import time. Nobody notices until a month-end report crashes or a shipment is flagged for missing data.

Core has no data-health scanner, no configurable rule set, and no recurring cron, so decay goes undetected until it hurts.

What this module adds:

  • Required field rule: flags records where a chosen field is empty.
  • Regex format rule: flags values that do not match a pattern.
  • Value-in-list rule: flags values outside a fixed allow-list.
  • Stale value rule: flags records whose field has not been touched for N days.
  • Orphan reference rule: flags many2one fields pointing at non-existent targets (common after unsafe bulk deletes).
  • Findings upserted (same finding = one row, last_seen updated), severity-tagged (info / warn / fail).
  • Chatter post on first discovery only so recurring issues do not spam users, plus a weekly admin email summarizing the top offending rules.

Common questions

Does it inherit or patch core Odoo models?
No. We use _register_hook to wrap the target method at registry load, and the wrapper unwinds cleanly at uninstall. No schema changes to core tables, no monkey-patches, no Studio surgery.
Does it work on Odoo Community, or only Enterprise?
Both. Every branch ships tested against Odoo 17.0, 18.0, and 19.0 on both Community and Enterprise editions. Install it the same way you install any Odoo module.
Can I uninstall it cleanly if it does not fit?
Yes. Uninstall removes the module rows, unwinds any method wrappers, and drops the module tables. Data you already captured stays in chatter / audit logs on the original records where relevant.
