Seeing the margin is not enough
|
Below-cost deals still go through
A red line warns you, but nothing stops a rep from confirming an order that loses money. The damage is done at confirmation. |
No live view of profitability
To answer which products, customers or salespeople make the most margin, someone exports data and rebuilds it in a spreadsheet. |
Everyone can see the cost
Cost price is sensitive, but by default every salesperson who sees margin can read it. There is no easy way to limit it. |
What this module does
Margin on Products, Sales & Invoices Pro adds enforcement, analysis and role-based visibility on top of the free margin module. Set a minimum margin company-wide, per product category, or per product. When a sale order has a line below that minimum, confirming it is either warned or blocked, and a Margin Manager can approve a specific order when there is a good reason.
A built-in Margin Dashboard shows revenue, cost, margin and margin percentage, with margin broken down by product, category, salesperson, customer and month. Each sales team gains a margin KPI, and a Margin Manager group keeps the cost and margin numbers visible only to the people who should see them, while everyone still sees loss-making lines highlighted in red.
|
🛡
Minimum Margin Guard
Warn or block confirming a sale order with a line below your minimum margin, set globally, per category or per product, with a manager override. |
📊
Margin Dashboard
Revenue, cost, margin and margin percentage at a glance, with margin by product, category, salesperson, customer and month, and a date filter. |
🔐
Manager-Only Cost
A Margin Manager group keeps cost and margin figures visible only to authorized users. Everyone else keeps working, loss lines still flagged. |
|
🛡 Warn or Block at Confirmation
Choose Off, Warn or Block. Warn posts a note; Block prevents confirming an order with a below-minimum line. |
🎯 Minimum Margin, Three Levels
Set the minimum per product, per product category, or company-wide. The most specific value always applies. |
|
✅ Margin Manager Override
When a below-margin order is genuinely needed, a Margin Manager ticks one box to approve that specific order. |
📈 Margin Dashboard
KPI tiles plus margin by product, category, salesperson, customer and month, with a date range filter. |
|
👥 Sales-Team Margin KPI
Each sales team shows its total margin and margin percentage from confirmed orders, right on the team form. |
🔐 Role-Based Cost Visibility
Cost and margin figures are shown only to the Margin Manager group; other users never see the numbers. |
|
🚩 Loss Lines Still Flagged
Below-cost lines stay highlighted in red for everyone, so the at-a-glance warning is never lost. |
🧩 Builds on the Free Module
Pro extends the free Margin on Products, Sales and Invoices module, which is installed automatically as a dependency. |
How it works
1 |
Set your minimum margin In Settings choose Warn or Block and a default minimum margin, then optionally override it per category or per product. |
2 |
Quote as usual Build the sale order normally. Below-cost lines are flagged in red, and Margin Managers see the cost and margin figures. |
3 |
The guard checks at confirmation If a line is below the minimum, confirming is warned or blocked. A Margin Manager can approve the order when needed. |
4 |
Watch the dashboard Open the Margin Dashboard under Sales Reporting to see profitability by product, category, salesperson, customer and month. |
5 |
Keep cost data in the right hands Add the right people to the Margin Manager group; everyone else works normally without seeing cost or margin numbers. |
See it in action
From setting the rule, to blocking a bad order, to analyzing margin across the business.
