Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Instagram Professional Account?
Yes. A proper Instagram Business Account is mandatory. Please note that Personal profiles and Content Creator accounts are not supported for messaging via the Meta API. You also need admin access to the linked Facebook Page and a Meta Developer App.
Can I connect multiple Instagram Accounts?
Yes. You can create multiple Meta Provider records in Odoo, one for each Instagram Account. Each provider has its own Page Access Token and handles its own set of conversations independently.
What media types can be sent and received?
The module supports images, videos, audio, files (PDF, docs), and GIFs in both directions. Incoming media is downloaded and saved as Odoo attachments. Outgoing media from Odoo is uploaded via multipart form with correct MIME type detection.
What happens when the 24-hour window expires?
When a customer's last message is older than 24 hours, the window_expired flag is set to True. Agents trying to reply will see a clear UserError message blocking the send. A visual banner is shown in Odoo Discuss via the OWL component. The window resets when the customer messages again.
How does Chat Transfer work?
Use the Transfer Chat button on an FB Channel. A wizard lets you select the target agent and add a note. The system posts a system message: "Chat Transferred: Agent A → Agent B", adds the new agent to the Discuss channel, and removes the current agent — ensuring full handover.
Can I add multiple agents to the same chat?
Yes. Use the Add User to Chat wizard on an FB Channel to invite additional internal users into the Odoo Discuss channel without removing the current agent. All agents can then view and participate in the conversation.
How does CRM Lead creation work?
Click Create Lead on any FB Channel. The system generates a crm.lead with the customer's contact info, full chat history (last 50 messages), UTM source set to Instagram / Chat, and the assigned agent pre-filled. Duplicate leads for the same active conversation are blocked automatically.
Are Instagram contacts automatically created?
Yes. When a new customer messages your page for the first time, the module automatically fetches their first and last name and creates a new contact in Odoo. This contact is securely linked to their Instagram profile so all future messages are properly tracked.
Does the module track message delivery and read status?
Yes. The module fully supports message tracking. Outgoing messages show a clear status updating from sent → delivered → read, giving your agents complete visibility on whether a customer has received and opened their message.
What does the Analytics Dashboard show?
The dashboard (Today / Week / Month) shows: Total Conversations, Active Chats, Window Expiring/Expired, Messages, Leads Created, a monthly incoming/outgoing bar chart, a message type donut chart (text, image, video…), and an Agent Performance table with chats, messages, leads, and avg. response time per agent.
