No - it only sees what you allow it to see. The AI works within the same access rules as the Odoo user it is connected to. If that user cannot see the payroll module, neither can the AI. You can also add an extra layer of restrictions to block specific fields across the whole system.
There are several protections in place. First, the AI can be set to show you a preview of every change before it saves anything - you review and confirm. Second, you can enable "Approval required" for sensitive actions, meaning a named person must click Approve before the change is made. Third, everything the AI does is written to a log, so you always have a complete history of what happened and when.
For most setups, no. Installing the module and connecting Claude Desktop or a similar tool takes about 10 minutes and requires no coding. If you want to connect a custom application or set up more advanced rules, basic Odoo administration knowledge is all you need.
Yes, fully. Every feature - all 36 actions, the safety controls, the access levels, the activity log - works on both Community and Enterprise editions of Odoo 19. There is no separate Enterprise-only version of this module.
No noticeable impact. Each AI request is handled exactly the same way as a normal Odoo user action. The built-in request limits also prevent any AI tool from sending too many requests at once, protecting your server from accidental overload.
Yes. You can create separate connections for Claude, ChatGPT, and any other tool, each with its own access level and restrictions. For example, your sales team might use Claude for customer queries while your finance team uses a separate connection for reporting - with completely independent permission sets for each.
The connection works the other way around: the AI tool sends a request to your Odoo server, and your Odoo replies with only the data needed for that specific query. Your full database never leaves your own server. What happens to data inside the AI tool itself depends on your agreement with that provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.).
