The Problem
When a new job application arrives, recruiters have to manually create a follow-up task, assign it, and set a deadline. In high-volume hiring periods, applications stack up and responses slip — creating a poor candidate experience and risking loss of top talent.
This module automatically creates a scheduled activity on every new application, assigned to the recruiter, so the right person is reminded to follow up immediately — without any manual intervention.

Key Features
Instant Response Culture
Every applicant triggers an activity immediately. Recruiters see the pending task in their activity view and can act before the candidate moves on.
Recruiter-Aware
The activity is assigned to the job's responsible recruiter automatically. No routing rules, no manual assignment — the right person is always on the hook.
Odoo Activity Integration
Uses Odoo's native mail.activity model — activities appear in the global activity view, chatter, and mobile app. No external tools needed.
Deadline Control
Configure the follow-up deadline on the rule. Fast-paced hiring pipelines can use 1 day; slower pipelines can allow 3–5 days before the activity turns red.
Configuration
- Install mjb_activity_rule (engine) if not already installed
- Install mjb_activity_application_received — the activity rule is created automatically
- Go to Recruitment › Configuration › Activity Rules to review the rule
- Adjust the Deadline (days) and Activity Type as needed
- Confirm the rule is Active (Enabled)
- Create a new job application — the follow-up activity will appear on the applicant record immediately
Scope & Limitations
- Creates one activity per application on creation — does not create follow-up activities on subsequent stage changes
- Does NOT send email or SMS to the applicant automatically
- Does NOT reschedule activity if the recruiter changes after creation
- Requires mjb_activity_rule engine to be installed
