Step 1: Install the Module

1. In your Odoo instance, go to Apps.
2. Search for Odoo AI MCP Server (technical name: odoo_ai_mcp_server).

Step 2: Assign User Access Rights

1. Go to Settings → Users & Companies → Users.

Configuration Options

5. MCP Log Retention Period (Days): - Sets how many days logs are kept before being automatically cleared (default: 30 days; 0 = keep forever).
6. Enable MCP Rate Limiting: - Turn on to enforce a maximum number of requests allowed per user per minute.
7. MCP API Limit (Per Minute): - Maximum API requests allowed per minute per user (default: 60).

Connecting ChatGPT.com (Web)

1. In Odoo, open the Connect Wizard and select ChatGPT.com.
2. Copy the MCP URL.
3. Open ChatGPT.com, go to Settings → Connectors → Add Custom Connector.
4. Paste the MCP URL and click Connect.
5. Sign in to your Odoo account to authorize ChatGPT.

Connecting Claude Desktop

1. In Odoo, open the Connect Wizard, choose Claude Desktop, and enter a connection name (e.g. My Claude Desktop).
2. Click Next to generate your API Key and configuration snippet.

How to Configure Model Access

1. Click New or click Add Models to use the bulk selection wizard.
2. Select the target Odoo Model (e.g., Sales Order, Contact, Product, Lead/Opportunity).
3. Configure the specific permission checkboxes: - Allow Read: AI can view, search, and aggregate records of this model. - Allow Write: AI can update existing records. - Allow Create: AI can create new records (e.g., new draft quotes or contacts). - Allow Delete: AI can request record deletion (subject to approval rules).
4. Field Exclusions & Protection: - Specify Whitelisted Fields if you only want the AI to access specific fields. - Specify Blocked Fields to prevent sensitive data (e.g., cost prices, banking info, private notes) from ever reaching the AI.

How the Approval Process Works

1. When the AI attempts to delete a record, the action is paused and an Approval Request is created.
2. An instant notification badge appears in the Odoo Systray (top right header icon) for administrators.
3. The administrator clicks the notification to view: - The record to be deleted (e.g., Quotation S00049). - The user who prompted the AI. - The exact prompt and reason provided.
4. The administrator can click Approve (executes the deletion) or Reject (cancels the request and returns a note to the AI).

What Gets Logged

• Timestamp & User: Date, time, and the Odoo user who initiated the action.
• Client IP & Platform: Originating IP address and AI client platform (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.).
• Action & Parameters: The specific operation requested (e.g., search sales orders, post message, generate report) with confidential tokens automatically masked.
• Duration & Status: Response time in milliseconds and execution status (Success / Error).
• Error Diagnosis: Full error trace for quick troubleshooting if a query fails.
