Engineered for Real Registers, Not Demos
No Duplicate Assets
Barcodes and serial numbers are enforced unique at the database level, and purchase, maintenance and depreciation amounts are constrained to be non-negative, so a bad scan or a typo is rejected instead of silently corrupting the register.
Stock-Aware Assignment
Assets can be tracked as a single unique item or as a pooled quantity. For pooled assets, current stock is initial stock minus active transfers, and an assignment beyond available stock is blocked with a validation error.
Predicted Maintenance
Once an asset has two completed jobs, the module averages the real intervals between them to forecast the next maintenance date, so upkeep planning is based on the asset's own history rather than a guess.

Set the Rule Once, Per Asset Type
Depreciation is configured on the asset type, not on every asset. Enable depreciation on an asset and the module generates the entries for you, updating accumulated depreciation and current book value as it goes.

What gets installed alongside it
This module builds on standard Odoo rather than reinventing it, so installing it will also install Employees (hr), Invoicing (account), Inventory (stock), Products and Discuss (mail) if they are not already on your database. That is what lets assets link to real employees, real stock locations and a real chatter trail, and it is why upgrades stay safe.
What This Module Does Not Do
We would rather you know before you buy than find out after. If any of these are dealbreakers, talk to us first, they are the most common things we are asked to add.
No journal entries
Depreciation is calculated and tracked inside the module for book value and reporting. It does not post to the general ledger. You can link an asset to its purchase invoice, but the depreciation itself stays out of your accounts.
Single company
The asset register is not company-scoped. If you run several companies in one database and need each to see only its own assets, this needs customization. Multi-location and multi-department are fully supported.
1D barcodes, not QR
Label sheets print a standard 1D barcode from the asset’s barcode field, readable by any ordinary scanner. QR codes are not generated. There is no built-in mobile scanning app.
Questions, Answered
Does it work on Odoo 19 Community?
Yes. The module runs on both Odoo 19 Community and Enterprise, and depends only on the standard base, product, hr, account, stock and mail modules.
Do I need any external API or key?
No. There are no external services, API keys or paid subscriptions. Everything runs inside your own Odoo database.
How is depreciation calculated?
Each asset type defines a frequency, a fixed or percentage rate, a basis of purchase price or book price, a start delay and an optional cap on entries. Assets with depreciation enabled then get entries generated against that rule.
Can I track quantities, not just unique items?
Yes. Set the model type to Multiple Assets and the record tracks initial stock, active transfers and current stock, blocking any assignment that exceeds what is available.
How do asset locations relate to Inventory?
Asset locations are hierarchical and each one is linked to a real stock location, created automatically under your warehouse if you do not pick one, so asset placement lines up with Inventory.
Does depreciation post to my accounts?
No. Depreciation is generated and tracked inside the module, giving you accumulated depreciation, current book value and depreciation reporting. It does not create journal entries in the general ledger. If you need posted depreciation, tell us before you buy.
Does depreciation run automatically?
Yes. A scheduled action runs daily and generates entries for every asset that has depreciation enabled and is due, based on its asset type’s rule. You can also run it on demand.
Can I import my existing asset register?
Yes. Assets are a standard Odoo model, so Odoo’s built-in spreadsheet import works. Bring in your CSV or XLSX, map the columns and load. Barcodes and serial numbers must be unique, so import will flag duplicates rather than accept them silently.
Will installing this add other apps?
Yes, and deliberately. It depends on Employees, Invoicing, Inventory, Products and Discuss, so those install alongside it if you do not already have them. That is what lets assets link to real employees, real stock locations and a real chatter trail.
