Login & Session Monitoring
Track every login and logout with complete accuracy. Each session records device type, OS, browser, session ID, and IP-based geolocation (city, state, country). A real-time activity indicator shows whether a user is active or idle, switching to idle after 5 minutes of inactivity.
User Activity Visibility
Get full transparency into user behaviour during every session. All CRUD actions across Odoo models are logged with the model name, record name, and exact timestamps in a chronological audit trail.
Security Alerts for New Logins
Automatically detect of new/unknown logins, immediate email alerts, and the inclusion of a "Check Session Activities" link and password reset recommendations.
Session Control & Safety
Admins and managers can remotely terminate any active session using a one-click kill option. Configurable auto-kill policies handle idle or long-running sessions, ensuring ongoing transactions are safely rolled back to prevent data loss.
Visual Dashboards & Reports
Access dashboard as a centralized view for active/terminated sessions and distributions by browser/OS. The world map pins and Excel/CSV export from Pivot/Table views are also explicitly supported.
Role-Based Access & Configuration Settings
Users see only their own sessions/logs, while Managers and Admins can have global visibility. The read-only/immutable nature of the logs is a critical security requirement to support GDPR and ISO 27001.

The Advanced User Audit module strengthens Odoo's security by tracking detailed user session metadata (device, browser, IP, location) and logging all CRUD activities, each linked to a specific session. Administrators can monitor live sessions, terminate suspicious logins, configure timeout and retention policies, view dashboards and analytics, and receive email alerts for unusual access. This ensures clear visibility, improved security, and strong accountability across the organization

Installation
- Go to Apps menu
- Click "Update Apps List"
- Search for "Advanced User Audit"
- Click on the module
- Click "Install" button
How to use this module:
Role-Based Access:
- Audit User: Can view only their own sessions and activities
- Audit Manager: Can view, edit, and manage all users' sessions and activities, terminate sessions, and access full dashboard
- System Administrator: Automatically assigned Audit Manager role with full access to all features and settings
- Go to Apps and Install the Module : In your Odoo dashboard, navigate to Apps, search for Advanced User Audit, and install it to enhance your system security and user monitoring.
- Assign User Roles : Go to Settings > Users & Companies > Users, select a user, and in the Other tab assign either Audit User (view own data) or Audit Manager (view all data) role.
- Configure Settings (Audit Manager / Admin only) : Go to Settings > General Settings and scroll to the Advanced User Audit section to configure:
- Audit Log Retention: Set the number of days to automatically remove old audit logs (default: 30 days)
- Email Notifications: Enable "Notify the User for Any New Session" to send email alerts for new login sessions
- Idle Timeout: Enable and configure automatic session termination after specified minutes of inactivity (default: 60 minutes)
- Session Time Limit: Enable and configure maximum session duration regardless of activity (default: 480 minutes/8 hours)
- Cron Job Schedules: Optionally set specific start dates for log cleanup and session timeout jobs
- Monitor Active Sessions : Navigate to Audit Sessions to view sessions:
- Audit User: Views only their own sessions
- Audit Manager/Admin: Views all users' sessions with complete details including user name, login time, session status (Active/Terminated), device type, browser, operating system, IP address, geographic location (city, region, country), session duration, and last activity timestamp
- Terminate Suspicious Sessions (Audit Manager / Admin only) : In the Audit Sessions view, click the Kill Session button on any active session for enhanced security control.
- Track User Activities : Navigate to Audit Activities to review detailed logs:
- Audit User: Views only their own CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete)
- Audit Manager/Admin: Views all users' activities, each linked to their specific session
- View Dashboard & Analytics : Navigate to Advanced User Audit > Dashboard to access visual analytics including:
- Active sessions overview
- Interactive session map
- Location Analysis
- Device Analysis
- Browser Analysis
- Operating System Distribution
- Session Overview
- Receive Security Alerts : When email notifications are enabled, users automatically receive alerts for new login sessions, helping detect unauthorized access attempts.
- Review Audit Reports : Use Odoo's built-in reporting tools to analyze session data and user activities for compliance, security audits, and accountability tracking.
