POS Pay Later - Customer Credit & Deferred Payment for Odoo POS
POS Pay Later adds a powerful customer credit feature to Odoo Point of Sale. It allows POS users to complete sales even when customers choose to pay at a later date. The module ensures customer identification, keeps track of outstanding balances, and records all deferred payments in real time.
Features
Smart Pay Later Payment Method
The module introduces a dedicated Pay Later payment method inside the POS, enabling customers to purchase goods even when they choose to pay at a future date. It integrates seamlessly into the payment screen, making the workflow natural for POS users.
Mandatory Customer Identification & Secure Validation
To maintain accuracy and prevent misuse, the system requires the POS user to select a customer before confirming a Pay Later transaction. If a customer is missing, a warning popup immediately alerts the user. This safeguard ensures all credit sales are properly linked to the right customer account, improving traceability and accountability.

1.) Enable POS Pay Later from General Settings
By simply checking the Allow Pay Later in POS setting, the module becomes active and ready to use. This central switch ensures administrators can easily control whether Pay Later is available for POS users.
2.) Pay Later Payment Method Configuration
The Pay Later payment method is set up under POS - Payment Methods. The options allow enabling customer identification and linking to the POS Pay Later functionality. This configuration ensures that Pay Later works smoothly and securely during checkout, following proper validation rules.
3.) Add Pay Later to POS Payment Methods
Here, the Pay Later method is assigned to the POS configuration so it appears as an available payment option at checkout. This setup allows POS users to choose Pay Later alongside other methods such as Cash, Card, or Customer Account.
4.) Pay Later Option Visible at Checkout
The POS payment popup now includes the Pay Later option, letting the user apply it to the current order. The amount is automatically applied to Pay Later, and the remaining balance updates instantly. This provides a simple and intuitive way for staff to finalize Pay Later transactions.
5.) Customer Required Before Pay Later Usage
This popup appears when the user attempts to validate a Pay Later order without selecting a customer. Since credit sales must be linked to a customer, the system enforces this validation. It protects the business from untracked Pay Later transactions and ensures accurate records.
6.) POS Order List Showing Pay Later Transactions
This Order screen in all POS orders, including those paid using Pay Later. The order created with the Pay Later method is highlighted with customer details and total amount. It gives managers clear visibility into outstanding Pay Later sales within the POS system.
7.) Detailed View of Pay Later POS Order
The detailed order form displays product lines, quantities, and pricing along with the order status. It shows that no payment was made immediately, confirming the order was completed using Pay Later.
