    1. Setup Configurations

  • Installation:
    • A requirements file is included in the module
    • Use "pip install -r [path_to_requirements.txt]" based on your system, to install the required libraries
  • Turn on Auto Detect Printer:
    • Go to Printer Management > Configuration > Setting
    • Check the Auto Detect Printers option
    • Odoo will detect for local printers every 1 minute
  • Paper sizes:
    • Go to Printer Management > Configuration > Paper
    • The module provided 50 different paper sizes
    • You can create new paper size
  • 2. Printer management

  • Register Printer:
    • Go to Printer Management > Printers
  • Print Document:
    • Go to a printer record
    • If printer is not active, then the created print job is sent to queue
  • Print Binary File/Attachment:
    • Binary File
    • Attachment (Many2many_binary widget)
    • Attachment (Chatter attachments)
  • Print Report:
    • Go to a Sale Order/Invoice/... any record that has a Report action
    • Click the report button
    • Choose either download the file or print the report
  • User:
    • Go to a user record
    • In Access Rights tab, set Printer Mangement role to Administrator
    • Admin will be able to Detect Printers, as well as change printer fields
    • In Preference tab, set default printer
    • Whenever you open a print popup screen that requires you to choose a printer, the system will automatically choose the default printer
  • Security:
    • Go to a printer record, Security tab (access by Printer Administrator only)
    • Is public: the printer is seen and available to all users
    • Not public: select the users that will be able to use the printer

What does this module for?

The module helps you print your documents directly without downloading the file and access printing from your pc

What operating system does it work on?

The system is currently working on MacOS, but others will be added in the future

What printers will be detected?

All printers that are registered to the server pc will be registered whenever a detect action is called

What file extensions are supported?

Currently the module supports txt, pdf, images and doc/docx
