This module delivers a comprehensive solution tailored for the automotive parts industry, extending Odoo's native product search capabilities at the Sales Order level to support MPN (Manufacturer Part Number), OEM, Cross-Reference, and Fitment configurations — allowing users to quickly locate the right part just as they would using internal reference or product name. Beyond search, the module introduces an intelligent warranty management system that automatically creates a warranty record when a warranted product is added to a sale order, and activates the warranty the moment the delivery order is validated — eliminating manual tracking entirely. Should a part fail within its warranty period, users can raise a claim directly from the sale order, and from that claim, seamlessly generate a new sale order for the replacement product, ensuring a smooth and fully traceable after-sales workflow — all within a single, unified Odoo interface.

Advanced Product Search:
Search products at the Sales Order level using MPN (Manufacturer Part Number), OEM Number, Cross Reference, and Fitment Configuration — just like Odoo's native search by internal reference or product name. Helps sales teams quickly identify the right part without hassle.
Warranty Configuration on Product:
Configure warranty eligibility directly on the product form. Define whether a product supports warranty or not, and set the warranty type — Month-wise, Year-wise, or KM-wise — giving full flexibility to match different warranty policies across your product catalog.
Automatic Warranty Record Creation:
When a Sale Order is confirmed containing a warranty-supported product, a warranty record is created automatically — no manual intervention required. This ensures every eligible product is tracked from the moment of sale.
Warranty Activation on Delivery Validation:
Once the delivery order is validated, the warranty record is automatically activated and the warranty start date is set. This guarantees accurate warranty periods tied to actual product delivery, not order confirmation.
Claim Management from sale order:
Users can raise a warranty claim directly from the sale order record, making the claim process fast and traceable. The system allows verification of the product's active warranty status before a claim is processed.
Sale Order from Claim Record:
Once a claim is approved, users can generate a new Sale Order for the replacement product directly from the claim record — closing the loop on the after-sales cycle without switching between modules or re-entering data manually.
Accessing the Auto Parts Menu
Upon installation, a dedicated Auto Parts menu is integrated directly into the Inventory module. This centralized hub allows you to manage all industry-specific data, including OEM details, Cross-References, Vehicle Configurations (Makes, Models, Engines)
OEM Number Configuration
Define specific OEM Numbers for your products to ensure precise cataloging. In this view, you can link an OEM number to a specific Manufacturer/Brand and define the compatibility range by setting the "From Year" and "To Year." You can also specify the Engine Type and add technical notes for internal reference.
Managing Auto Cross-References & Reference Types
Centralize all industry identifiers by navigating to the Cross-References section under the Auto Parts menu. This feature allows you to map internal parts to external numbering systems used by competitors or manufacturers. Within each record, you can categorize identifiers by Reference Type (e.g., OEM, Aftermarket), assign a Brand, and add detailed Notes. This ensures that when sales teams search at the Sale Order level, they find the correct product instantly, regardless of which code the customer provides.
Configure Product With OEM Number
On the Product Template, a new Auto Part Info section is integrated. This allows you to manage critical industry data in one place. You can link multiple OEM Numbers, flag Hazardous Materials, and manage product lifecycles by setting Discontinued status.
MPN & Cross-Reference Mapping
For precision tracking, the module allows you to define the Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) and Cross-References / Interchange numbers directly on the product variant. This ensures that every technical identifier is searchable and linked to the correct inventory item.
Automated Warranty Settings
Configure warranty option if product available with warranty so once sale order confiremed with this product warranty record create automatically. And you can also defined warranty periods like months / years or kms.
Product Replacement (Replaced By) Configuration
Keep your sales team informed of inventory changes. If a part is discontinued, use the Replace By field to link the newer or alternative part. This helps the salesperson instantly suggest a valid replacement if the original part is no longer available.
Vehicle Fitment Management
Ensure compatibility with the Vehicle Fitment tab. You can add specific lines for Make, Model, Year Range, Engine Type, and Position (e.g., Front, Rear). This granular data prevents incorrect orders by confirming exactly which vehicle the part fits.
Advanced Product Search in Sales Orders
The module dramatically enhances the standard Odoo search. Sales teams can now type an OEM Number, MPN, or Cross-Reference directly into the Sales Order line. The system instantly recognizes these automotive identifiers and suggests the correct product.
Website Level Product Searching
You can also search product at website level using OEM number and MPN number same like sale order level searching.
The process begins by creating a standard Sales Order. When you add products that have been configured with the "Warranty Product" flag, the system prepares to track these items through their lifecycle.
Upon confirming the Sales Order, the module automatically generates a Warranty Registration record. A dedicated Warranties smart button appears at the top of the Sales Order, providing instant access to the linked warranty details and their current status.
The Warranty Registration record captures all essential data, including the customer information, linked Sales Order, and a list of specific products covered. It also provides fields for tracking the Warranty Start Date and Odometer at Installation, ensuring full technical traceability.
If a customer needs to report a faulty part, you can click the Create Warranty Claim button directly from the original Sales Order. This keeps the claim strictly linked to the initial transaction, appearing as a Claims smart button for easy reference.
Within the Warranty Claim record, you can review the items being claimed. Once the claim is verified, moving it to the Approved stage enables the Create Sale Order button, allowing you to quickly process a replacement for the customer.
The system generates a new Sales Order specifically for the replacement parts. This order is automatically flagged with a "Created From Warranty Claim" indicator and includes a reference to the original claim and Sales Order in the description, maintaining a clean audit trail for your records.
Can I search for products using identifiers other than the Odoo internal reference?
- Yes. The module extends the standard search functionality, allowing you to find products instantly at the Sales Order level by entering the MPN (Manufacturer Part Number), OEM number, or any Cross-Reference value.
How does the system determine which products get a warranty?
- The module checks a specific "Warranty" flag on the product. If this is marked as true, the system will automatically generate a warranty record when that product is added to a Sales Order.
When exactly does a product’s warranty period begin?
- To ensure accuracy, the warranty status is updated to "Started" automatically only after the Delivery Order (DO) is validated. This ensures the warranty period reflects the actual date the customer receives the part.
Can I process a warranty claim directly from the Sales Order?
- Absolutely. You don't need to navigate through multiple menus. You can create a Claim Record directly from the original Sales Order, keeping the entire history of the transaction linked.
How are replacement products handled during a claim?
- Once a claim is registered and approved, the module allows you to generate a new Sales Order for the claimed product directly from the claim interface, ensuring a streamlined replacement process for the customer.
