Bulk Product Media Drop

Drop a folder of product photos and let Odoo match them to products by filename.

Uploading product photos one at a time is the top time-waster for e-commerce teams running Odoo, and a 500-image catalog refresh stays a half-day job. The photographer sends a folder named by SKU, and native Odoo has no bulk dropper to load it. This wizard matches each file against internal references, barcodes, and variant attributes, so you drag the folder once and the images land on the right products.

What it does

Uploading product photos one-by-one is the top time-waster for e-commerce teams running Odoo. ZIP-based importers help a bit but force you to rename files first, then re-zip, then upload, then match by hand if anything is off.

Native Odoo ships no bulk image dropper, no fuzzy SKU matcher, and no variant-aware upload path, so large catalog refreshes stay a half-day job.

What this module adds:

  • Drop a folder of images and match them to existing products automatically.
  • Filenames matched against internal references, barcodes, and optionally product names.
  • Suffix-based routing: SKU123.jpg is the main image, SKU123-2.jpg is gallery position 2, SKU123-red.jpg is the red variant, SKU123-red-L.jpg is red / L, SKU123-thumb.jpg is a thumbnail override.
  • Fuzzy matching (Levenshtein ratio) with per-run threshold.
  • Dry-run preview showing which files will land where, plus the unmatched list.
  • Variant attribute resolution that finds the product.product for any attribute-value combo.

Common questions

Does it inherit or patch core Odoo models?
No. We use _register_hook to wrap the target method at registry load, and the wrapper unwinds cleanly at uninstall. No schema changes to core tables, no monkey-patches, no Studio surgery.
Does it work on Odoo Community, or only Enterprise?
Both. Every branch ships tested against Odoo 17.0, 18.0, and 19.0 on both Community and Enterprise editions. Install it the same way you install any Odoo module.
Can I uninstall it cleanly if it does not fit?
Yes. Uninstall removes the module rows, unwinds any method wrappers, and drops the module tables. Data you already captured stays in chatter / audit logs on the original records where relevant.
