Customs Duties and Tariff Rates | Import Fees & HS Code Valuation
Customs Duties and Tariff Rates | Import Fees & HS Code Valuation is a comprehensive Odoo module that streamlines import cost management by letting businesses maintain a complete catalog of HS (Harmonized System) Codes with country or region-specific tariff rate lines covering duties and taxes such as CID, PAL, VAT, Cess, Excise, Surcharge, SRL, RIDL, and SSCL; these HS Codes can be assigned directly to products or inherited from product categories, and once an Import Country is set on a Purchase Order it automatically flows through to the related receipts, so when a Landed Cost record is created the module auto-generates a Customs Duties tab that calculates every applicable component using the correct cascading formula (for instance, Surcharge computed on CID, and VAT computed on CIF plus CID, PAL, EIC, Cess, and Excise Duty combined), then splits the total customs cost across received products using a dedicated "By HS Code" allocation method, and finally lets users print a detailed, audit-ready Customs Valuation Breakdown report — giving importers full transparency and accuracy in import fee and HS code valuation with minimal manual effort.
Highlighted Features
HS Code Catalog
Maintain a centralized catalog of HS Codes, each with country or region-specific tariff rate lines for all your import duty components.
Smart Product Mapping
Assign HS Codes directly to products or let them automatically fall back to the product category's HS Code — no manual duplication needed.
Import Country Tracking
Set the Import Country right on the Purchase Order and have it flow automatically through to receipts and landed costs.
Cascading Duty Calculation
Automatically compute CID, PAL, VAT, Cess, Excise, Surcharge, SRL, RIDL, SSCL and more, using the correct cascading base at every step of the chain.
"By HS Code" Cost Allocation
Split total customs costs proportionally across received products with a dedicated, purpose-built landed cost split method.
Customs Valuation Report
Generate an audit-ready PDF breakdown showing duty components, HS Code summaries, and final landed cost per product.
Detailed Features
HS Code Master Catalog
Create and maintain a dedicated catalog of HS (Harmonized System) Codes, each configurable with a code, description, default country, and multiple company assignments. Every HS Code supports one or more country/region-specific rate lines, so a single code can carry different duty percentages depending on where the goods are imported from.
Product & Category-Level HS Code Assignment
Assign an HS Code directly to a specific product, or set it once at the product category level so every product under that category inherits it automatically. If a product doesn't have its own HS Code, the system transparently falls back to its category's code — eliminating repetitive manual setup across large catalogs.
Import Country on Purchase Orders
Capture the Import Country directly on the Purchase Order. This value automatically propagates to the resulting stock receipts and, from there, to any Landed Cost record created for that shipment — ensuring the correct country-specific tariff rates are always applied without re-entry.
Automatic Customs Duty Tab on Landed Costs
When a Landed Cost record is created for a validated receipt, the module auto-generates a "Customs Duties" tab, populated based on each received product's HS Code and the shipment's Import Country — removing the need to look up and manually enter applicable duty rates.
"By HS Code" Landed Cost Split Method
Introduces a dedicated cost-allocation method that distributes the total computed customs cost across received products proportionally by HS Code, giving more accurate per-product landed cost figures than generic split-by-quantity or split-by-value methods.
Sync to Cost Lines via Import Fee Product
Computed customs duties can be synced directly into the Landed Cost's accounting cost lines using a configurable "Import Fee Product" (set at the company level), keeping the financial postings aligned with the computed customs breakdown.
Customs Valuation Breakdown Report
Print a detailed, audit-ready PDF report from any Landed Cost record, showing a summary by HS Code, the final landed cost per product, and the complete duty-component-by-duty-component breakdown — ideal for compliance and audit trails.
Centralized Configuration
A dedicated Settings panel (under Inventory) lets administrators configure the company-wide Import Fee Product used for syncing customs costs, keeping setup simple and centralized.
