STORY BEHIND THE FEATURE

ODOO BEHAVIOR

In Odoo, negative stock is allowed by default, meaning users can process operations (e.g., deliveries or repairs) even if insufficient stock is available. This can lead to inaccuracies in inventory management, as Odoo does not have a built-in option to explicitly prevent negative stock at the product level or enforce stock availability checks in workflows like Helpdesk Tickets and Repair Orders.
CLUEDOO BEHAVIOR

The new Cluedoo feature adds a crucial enhancement by linking Helpdesk Tickets to Repair Orders while introducing a stock availability check. If the stock level is insufficient and the product template does not allow negative stock (customized by this Cluedoo feature), the system prevents the completion of the Repair Order linked to the ticket. This ensures that operations requiring unavailable stock are halted until stock is replenished.

​HOW TO USE THIS MODULE

1. Go to Helpdesk > Tickets > My Tickets > New and fill in the necessary information > Repair to create a Repair Order

Note: install helpdesk_repair

2. Choose the Product to Repair and make sure the Product Quantity is greater than the quantity On Hand > Confirm Repair

e.g. Quantity On Hand = 1, Quantity to repair = 5

A warning about insufficient quantity to repair will show up > Confirm > Start Repair > End Repair


2.1 If Allow Negative Stock is unchecked on the product template, there will be a warning that you cannot complete the repair.

2.2. If Allow Negative Stock is checked on the product template, the repair validation will not be blocked.
