Odoo’s chatter is powerful, but not every user needs access to every chatter feature.
Hide Chatter gives you complete control over what users can see and use inside the chatter section across Odoo models. You can selectively hide the full chatter or specific elements like Send Message, Log Notes, Activities, Followers and Attachments based on users and groups.
This module helps you tailor the Odoo interface for different roles, reduce unnecessary distractions and maintain better control over communication and record updates. Whether you want a cleaner UI for operational users or stricter access for compliance and process discipline, Hide Chatter lets you configure exactly what’s visible and where.
With user-level settings, model-wise control and support for multiple groups, the app ensures your teams see only what’s relevant to their work, nothing more, nothing less.

Hide full chatter
Completely removes the chatter panel for selected users and models, keeping records clean and distraction-free.
Hide send message
Prevents users from sending messages where communication is not required or allowed.

Installation
To install the module you need to go to the Apps menu and remove the filter from the search bar and type the module name pragtech_hide_chatter and click on the Active button.
Configuration
- To configure the Pragtech Hide Chatter module, go to Settings > Users & Companies > Users.
- Select a user and open the Access Rights tab.
- Enable the option "Show Hide Chatter Menu".
- Once enabled, a new menu called "Hide Chatter" will appear.
- Use this menu to manage chatter visibility settings for the selected user.
- Configure which chatter components (messages, notes, activities, followers, attachments) should be visible for the user.
Multiple Groups
We can create multiple groups and easily activate or deactivate them using the Active button.
HIDE FULL CHATTER
- To hide the full chatter in Odoo, add the model, select the specific user, and enable the "Hide Chatter" option.
- This configuration will completely disable the chatter view for that model for the selected user.
HIDE SEND MESSAGE, HIDE LOG NOTES, HIDE ACTIVITY
- To hide Send Message, Log Notes, and Activities, add the model, select the specific user, and enable the respective options:
- "Hide Message", "Hide Log", "Hide Activity"
HIDE FOLLOWERS, HIDE ATTACHMENT
- To hide Followers and Attachments, add the model, select the specific user, and enable:
- "Hide Followers" and "Hide Attachment"
