Smart UTM & Source Tracking
Here is the exact mechanism of our automated UTM and Source mapping process from a Social Post directly to a CRM Lead:
- Step 1 (Auto UTM Medium): Navigate to a connected Social Account configuration. You will see an auto-generated UTM Medium associated natively with that account.
- Step 2 (Create Post with URL): Create a new Social Post, enter your content alongside a URL (e.g., your website's Contact form link), assign it to a Campaign, and click Post.
- Step 3 (Auto Link Trimming): Check the published Live Post. The system has automatically converted and shortened your destination link using Odoo's Link Tracker (e.g., into an `.../r/...` format) embedding all UTM parameters in the background!
- Step 4 (Customer Action): A prospective customer clicks the shortened link on their social feed, accesses your Contact Form, and submits their inquiry.
- Step 5 (CRM Validation): Open your newly created CRM Lead! You will notice that Odoo perfectly tracked the origin with: Source = Source of the Social Post | Medium = Medium of the Social Account | Campaign = Campaign of the Social Post.

Configuration & Core Concepts
With the d_social_crm module, you can easily bridge the gap between social engagements and the Odoo CRM pipeline. The most powerful feature is the automatic Source and UTM Tracking.
Here is the exact mechanism of our automated UTM and Source mapping process from a Social Post directly to a CRM Lead:
Auto UTM Medium Registration Navigate to a connected Social Account (e.g., your Company Facebook Page) in Odoo's Social Marketing app. You will notice an inherently mapped UTM Medium (such as "social") automatically assigned to that account configuration.
Create Post with Embedded URL Proceed to create a new Social Post. Write your caption and include a destination URL (like the link to your website's Contact Us form). Additionally, assign the post to a specific Campaign before hitting "Post".
Auto Link Trimming via Link Tracker Once the post is published, check the Live Post. You will see that Odoo has automatically intercepted your destination URL and converted it into a shortened link (e.g., `https://odoo_example.com/r/...`). Odoo Link Tracker silently embeds the utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign metrics into this short URL based on your selected social account and campaign.
Customer Action A prospective customer scrolling through their social feed sees your Live Post, clicks the newly shortened link, lands on your website, and submits the Contact form.
CRM Validation & Tracking Accuracy Navigate to your CRM app and open the newly created Lead. Under the Marketing or Tracking tab, you will find perfect attribution:
