The Pragtech Smart Group By module allows users to create and configure custom group by filters in Odoo. These filters can be applied to specific models, Specific User and set as default for improved usability.

Install the module
To install the module you need to go to the Apps menu and remove the filter from the search bar and type the module name pragtech_smart_group_by and click on the Active button.
Configuration
To configure the Pragtech Smart Group By module, navigate to Settings > Technical > Smart Group By, and click “New”to create a new custom group by configuration.
Create custom group by filters via configuration
After clicking New, a configuration window will appear. In this window, select the Model for which you want to define a custom Group By filter.
Next, go to the "Group By" tab, where a popup will appear. In the popup, enter the Name and select the field from the chosen model that you want to group by, then click Save.
Set default group by for models or views
To set a default Group By filter, simply enable the "Apply Default" option in the configuration. All other configuration steps remain the same.
Assign group by filters to specific users
To assign Group By filters to specific users, select the desired User in the configuration. The filter will then be applied only for that user.
Support for time-based grouping (daily, weekly, monthly)
The custom filters you configure will appear under the Group By section in the model’s search menu. If a date field is configured, time-based grouping options (e.g., day, week, month) will also be available, as shown in the image.
