Add or Replace Substitutes
Easily add or replace substitute products in manufacturing components. Keep production running smoothly when materials are unavailable. No need to modify the entire BoM.
Substitute Management in BoM
Manage substitute products directly within the Bill of Materials. View and assign alternative components with quantities. Ensure flexibility in production planning.
Substitute Options in Manufacturing Orders
Add or replace substitutes directly from Manufacturing Orders. The âAdd Substituteâ button appears after confirmation. Quickly adjust components during production.

1.) Enable Substitute Feature for Users
Activate the "Manufacturing: Use substitutes" option under user settings. This allows selected users to manage substitute products in manufacturing. You can easily enable or disable access to this feature per user.

2.) Substitute Setup in Bill of Materials (BoM)
Open a BoM to define substitute products for each component. Substitute items can be listed alongside original components with quantities. This ensures alternative materials are ready for production flexibility.

3.) View Manufacturing Orders
Access all active Manufacturing Orders in a list view. Easily identify order status, component availability, and production state. This helps monitor which orders can utilize substitutes if needed.

4.) Confirm Manufacturing Order
Confirm a Manufacturing Order to begin processing components. Once confirmed, the order status updates, and substitute options become available. This step is required before adding or replacing any components.

5.) Add/Replace Substitute Button
After confirmation, an "Add / Replace Substitute" button appears at the component level. This lets you open the substitute management wizard. Quickly add or replace components without editing the BoM.

6.) Add Substitute Product Wizard
Select a substitute product, define the quantity, and choose an action. You can either add it as an extra component or replace an existing one. Click 'Apply' to finalize your changes.

7.) Substitute Added as Extra Component
The substitute product is now added as an additional component. You can view it listed with the defined quantity under "To Consume". This provides more flexibility without removing the original part.

8.) Replace Existing Component
Choose "Replace existing component" in the wizard to swap parts. Define which component to replace and assign the substitute. Click "Apply" to update the Manufacturing Order instantly.

9.) Substitute Replacement Updated
The selected component has been successfully replaced by the substitute product. The updated component list now reflects the new substitute. This keeps your manufacturing process smooth even during material shortages.
