SchoolOS - Library
School library management for Odoo 19 - Catalogue | Copies & Barcodes | Members | Issue & Return | Reservations | Fines | Donations | Digital Resources
SchoolOS Library is a complete library management module for Odoo 19. Catalogue books by title, ISBN, authors, publisher and shelf, track individual copies with barcodes and accession numbers, and register student, staff and external members. Issue and return books with barcode scanning, manage reservations, raise late, damage and lost fines, and accept book donations. Digital resources, borrow policies and automated member counters round out a library that bills fines straight into SchoolOS fees.
Who is this for?
- Schools running a library with their own catalogue and copies
- Librarians handling issue, return, reservations and fines
- Library assistants scanning barcodes at the circulation desk
- Students and staff borrowing books as library members
- Finance teams billing library fines through school fees
- Odoo consultants and developers extending the suite
Key Benefits
Complete Library Management
Catalogue, copies, members, issue / return, reservations, fines, donations and digital resources - a full library management system on the same student records as the rest of SchoolOS.
Fast Barcode Circulation
Scan a copy's barcode, accession or copy number - and a member card - to resolve the issue or return instantly at the desk.
Automated Fines & Billing
Late, damage and lost fines are auto-created on return and can be pushed into a SchoolOS fee invoice for the student in one click.
Live Member Insights
Per-member counters track lifetime issues, currently borrowed, returned, overdue and lost - computed automatically from borrow history.
Feature Highlights
Book Catalogue
schoolos.library.book holds title, ISBN, authors, publisher, edition, language, subject, grade, curriculum, keywords and cover, with live copy / available / issued counts.
Copies & Shelves
schoolos.library.copy tracks each physical copy with copy number, accession number, barcode, shelf, condition and status.
Members
schoolos.library.member registers student, staff and external members with member number, fine balance and active / blocked / expired state.
Issue & Return
schoolos.library.issue and schoolos.library.return handle borrowing with due dates, condition, late days and an issued / returned / overdue / lost lifecycle.
Barcode Scanning
Scan barcode, accession or copy number to auto-resolve the copy, and scan a member card to autofill the borrower on issue and return.
Reservations
schoolos.library.reservation queues members for a book through Waiting → Notified → Collected / Cancelled.
Fines
schoolos.library.fine records late, damage and lost fines per member with pending / paid / waived states, auto-created on return.
Fine → Fee Invoice
Generate a schoolos.fee.invoice straight from a student fine, soft-linked so it degrades gracefully if the fees module is absent.
Donations
schoolos.library.donation records charity and used-book donations with donor details through Draft → Accepted → Rejected.
Digital Resources
schoolos.library.digital.resource publishes e-books, links and videos mapped to grade levels for a digital library.
Borrow Policies
schoolos.library.policy sets borrow limit, loan period, fine per day and max renewals per member type.
Automated Counters
Member counters for lifetime issues, currently borrowed, returned, overdue and lost are computed and stored from borrow history.
End-to-End Workflow
1 | Catalogue books with authors, publisher and subject, then add physical copies with barcodes, accession numbers and shelves |
2 | Register student, staff and external members and set borrow policies for each member type |
3 | Issue a book by scanning the copy barcode and member card - due date is set and the copy flips to Issued |
4 | Members reserve unavailable titles; reservations move from Waiting to Notified to Collected |
5 | Scan to return - late days are computed, the copy returns to Available, and late / damage / lost fines are auto-created |
6 | Generate a fee invoice from a student fine, accept book donations and publish digital resources to grade levels |
