With this module you can enhances the native Quick Reorder functionality with accurate real-time stock status checks and alternative product suggestions — so customers are never left stuck with unavailable items.
Before anything is added to the cart, the module quietly checks every item from the original order to see whether it can actually be purchased right now. If everything is in stock and ready, the reorder goes through instantly as normal. But if even one item has a stock issue or is temporarily unavailable, a smart dialog box opens up automatically. This dialog shows the customer a clear breakdown of their original order — which items are good to go, which ones are unavailable, and for the unavailable ones, a list of alternative products that can be purchased instead.

This module does not add any extra buttons, extra pages, or separate workflows for your customers to learn. 01 After installing the module, Turn Off "Continue Selling" for Out-of-Stock Products From Website Configuration Settings. Scroll down to the eCommerce section and find the option that says Continue Selling. Make sure this is turned off. This tells your store to properly mark products as unavailable when they run out of stock. Without this setting, the module cannot detect which products are out of stock and the alternative suggestion feature will not trigger. Save your settings once done.

02 Set Up Alternative Products on Each Product Page Go to your Website and open any product that you want to set up alternatives for. Click on the Sales tab inside the product form. You will find a section called Alternative Products. Add the products that you want to suggest to customers when this product goes out of stock. These are the products that will appear inside the reorder dialog and quick reorder side bar in the cart as suggestions. Repeat this for all products in your store that you want to cover. The more alternatives you set up, the better the experience for your customers. While you are on the product page, Sell when Out-of-Stock — make sure this is also turned off for each product individually. This works together with the global setting you turned off in Step 1 to make sure the product is properly marked as unavailable the moment it runs out of stock.

03 Customer Places an Order as Normal Your customer shops on your website, adds products to their cart, and completes their purchase as usual. Nothing is different at this stage. The module works silently in the background and only activates during the reorder process.

04 Customer Goes to Their Order History When the customer wants to reorder, they log into their account and navigate to Your Orders from their portal. They find the previous order they want to repeat and click the standard Reorder button — the same button that has always been there in Odoo.

05 Now System Checks Stock Automatically The moment the customer clicks Reorder, the module instantly checks every product in that order to see whether it is currently in stock and available to purchase. This happens automatically and takes only a second. The customer does not need to do anything. Case 1 All Products Available — Reorder Goes Through Instantly If every product from the original order is in stock and available, the reorder completes immediately as normal. The products are added to the cart and the customer is taken to the cart page. No popup, no extra steps — just a fast and smooth reorder experience. Case 2 Some Products Unavailable — Smart Dialog Opens If one or more products are out of stock or unavailable, the module automatically opens a helpful popup dialog. The customer does not see an error or a blank screen — they see a clear and friendly breakdown of their order showing exactly which items are ready and which ones have a out of stock issue.

06 The same process works with the quick reorder button from the cart itself. In the sidebar you can see the suggested alternative and add it over the original out-of-stock product.

07 Customer Picks Alternatives for Unavailable Items For each unavailable item, the dialog shows the alternative products that your team already set up. The customer can browse these suggestions, see the price, and choose. They can also adjust the quantity of any alternative before adding it. Once the customer is happy with their selection — they click the Add to Cart button. Now as per the standard odoo Cart Is Updated and Customer Proceeds to Checkout.

What happens if all the products I want to reorder are in stock?Nothing changes at all. The reorder goes through instantly just like it always has. The popup only appears when there is actually a stock problem to deal with. |

Where do the alternative product suggestions come from?They come from the recommended alternatives that your store team has already set up on each product page. So the suggestions are always relevant to what the customer was originally trying to buy. |

Can I change the quantity of items inside the reorder popup?Yes, absolutely. You can increase or decrease the quantity of any item directly inside the popup before confirming. The price will update automatically as you make changes. |

What if there are no alternatives available for an out-of-stock product?If no suitable alternatives have been set up for that product, the unavailable item will simply show as unavailable with no suggestions. You can still proceed with reordering the other available items from the same order. |

Do I need to do any setup or configuration after installing this module?Just one simple one-time setting in your standard Odoo store configuration. Make sure the Continue Selling option is turned off for out-of-stock products. This tells Odoo to properly mark products as unavailable when they run out of stock, which is what allows this module to detect them and show alternatives automatically. Once that setting is saved, everything else works on its own — no further configuration is needed. The only other thing your team may want to do is make sure relevant alternative products are added on each product page, so customers always have good options to choose from when something is out of stock. |
