What field types does this widget support?

The widget is designed for many2many fields that relate to the ir.attachment model. It will not work with unrelated many2many fields or binary fields directly.

How do I use it in my custom module?

Just add the widget to the XML field like this:
Eg. --> field name="attachment_ids" widget="many2many_binary_drag_and_drop"
Make sure attachment_ids is a many2many field linked to ir.attachment

Can files be removed before the record is saved?

Yes. Users can remove files before saving. After the record is saved, standard Odoo behavior applies for managing attachments.

Can I restrict file types (e.g., only PDFs or images)?

By default, the widget does not restrict file types. However, you can extend the widget’s JavaScript to include MIME type validation or override it to support only specific file extensions like .pdf, .jpg, etc.

Can I use this widget for other models that inherit ir.attachment?

Yes, as long as the field is a many2many relation to ir.attachment, the widget will work.
