Advanced Many2one Restrictions
Advanced Many2one Restrictions provides a powerful and flexible way to control user interactions with Many2one fields in Odoo without altering core access rights.
This module introduces configurable, module-wise restrictions that allow administrators to disable Create, Create & Edit, Quick Create, and Open actions on Many2one fields based on assigned user groups. The field remains fully visible while dynamically switching between restricted and unrestricted behavior, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience.
With dedicated controls for Sales, Purchases, Products & Product Variants, Inventory, and Invoices, businesses can enforce consistent data governance, prevent accidental record creation, and maintain clean master data-without impacting read access or workflow continuity.

OR
- Restricts Create, Create & Edit, Quick Create, and Open actions on Many2one fields without hiding the field.
- Uses group-based toggles to enable or disable restrictions dynamically
- Prevents accidental or unauthorized master data creation while maintaining read access
- Clean implementation using standard view inheritance
- Lightweight and performance-friendly implementation
- Easy to configure and maintain by administrators
1. Configure User-Based Restrictions
After activating the module, go to Settings > Users & Companies > Users and open the user you want to restrict.
Here, we select Mitchell Admin and enable the required options, such as Sales Restriction and Products & Product Variants Restriction.
Once enabled, the related Many2one fields will be restricted for this user, preventing create or edit actions while keeping record selection available.
2. Restriction in Sale Order Flow
Since the user is restricted for Sales and Products & Product Variants, navigate to the Sales app and try to create a new Quotation.
When selecting a Customer, the Create and Create & Edit options are no longer available in the dropdown. This confirms that the restriction is successfully applied and the user can only select existing records.
3. Restriction on Product Form Fields
From the Sales app, open Products and navigate to the Inventory tab. Under the Responsible field, try to add "Roman".
You will notice that the Create and Create & Edit options are not available. This confirms that important Many2one fields are correctly restricted, allowing only existing records to be selected.
4. Inventory Module Restrictions Applied
The user is now restricted on important Many2one fields within the Inventory module. As a result, the user can select existing records but cannot create, edit, or open new records from the dropdown fields.
5. Inventory Operations Restrictions
Now go to Inventory > Operations > Receipts and open an existing receipt (or create a new one). When trying to select values for Operation Type, Source Location, Destination Location, or Product under the Operations tab, you will notice that the Create and Create & Edit options are not available.
This confirms that key Many2one fields in Inventory operations are successfully restricted for the user.
6. Invoice Module Restrictions
As shown in the image, the user is restricted in the Invoices module.
7. Invoice-Level Field Restrictions
After applying the restrictions, go to Invoices and open an existing invoice (or create a new one). When attempting to add or change values, you will see that Create and Create & Edit options are not available. Key fields such as Purchase Order, Product, and Salesperson are restricted, allowing only selection of existing records.
